Summary

Gold coins from a centuries-old sunken treasure ship have been found on the beach in Cawsand. This would be no cause for Tempest Michaels to take notice, but a man murdered by the ghost of a dead pirate come to claim back the gold? That ticks all his boxes.

Tempest, oblivious to the events in Cawsand and believing he was overdue a week off, has traveled to Cornwall with his dogs for some relaxation and perhaps a cream tea or two. Well, fat chance of that, because he is hip-deep in murderous ghosts before he finishes his second pint.

Uncovering a disturbing undercurrent in the sleepy seaside village, a race against time begins for him to crack the case before anyone else gets hurt. Together with the local police officer, the diminutive, sexy, and very domineering Bobbi the Bobby, plus some other helping hands he could probably do without, he will do all he can to reveal the truth.

The locals believe the ghosts are real, though, and the village is filling up with treasure hunters after the gold and ghost hunters seeking infamy. Are there people trying to sabotage his efforts? Is he in danger? Just what is the truth behind the mystery, and was there ever a treasure to find?

He has the odds stacked against him like never before, he has no idea who he can trust, and the dachshunds want their dinner. And, oh yeah, it’s Halloween.

entertaining

Good series so far, first and second book narrator Peter fullagar was a much better fit for tempest than Charles Robert fox who seems to pause mid sentence all through his narration which gives the story a strange flow imo

Relaxing on holiday? Not a chance!

Most of us think we'll have some R&R when on holiday, but we usually end up needing to rest and recover b/c we've used every second of that time enjoying the free time. Not Tempest Michaels...nooo. If there's a paranormal mystery to solve, you can bet he will be on the case! I'm getting used to sleeping less now b/c Steve Higg's books are just unputdownable! Fantastic story by a fantastic author!
Excellent narration by Charles Robert Fox.
