Summary

Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Now the vampires and the shapeshifters are 'out', you'd think the supernaturals would get on with each other. But nothing is that simple in Bon Temps!

Really good read, I truly enjoyed listening to it

First of all the Sookie Stackhouse books are completely different to the well known TV series Trueblood, the scriptwriters have enhanced many characters that are virtually non existent in the books. The books are fairly slow paced but this is def. a Charlaine Harris writing trait. This book was a really good read and the narrator had Sookie down to a fine art. Her lovely southern drawl made the book akin to eating chocolate cake with whipped cream. She alternated her voice for different characters and in doing so brought them to life, especially Pam, her scenes made me giggle out loud. I really recommend this book to readers of the Sookie series and lovers of the supernatural genre.

Good book!

A good book but I found it a little dissapointing. It made more questions than it answered and Sookie didn't seem as awesome as usual. Still a great read but not as great as it could have been.

Fantastic listen

From the minute this audio started I was pulled in, it was an enjoyable listen and I'm looking forward to the next release, the readers voice, ( although starts slightly annoying with the southern slur ) soon has you caught up in the story! It truly is a must for any true blood fan!! :)

Bontemp life or something like it?

Kill Victor tonight' then baby shower for Tara. "Fuck a zombie" as Pam would say.

Such a good series and narration and a guest appearance by Lilly Bard and Jack (see the Shakespeare series)

Very entertaining

This book is very entertaining and I could not stop until I had read the whole book. I loved the mix of characters and the plot of the book. You can listen to the book whilst basking in the sun in the park or whilst taking a walk. Absolutely beautiful.

Another Great Read from Harris

I have a confession...I read the Sookie Stackhouse series loooong ago. I devoured the books as a younger reader, I fell in love with characters, I wanted to live in Bon Temps. And that's what I look for in a book at any age. I want to be spirited away from my life and into someone elses.

X number of years on, I use the audiobooks to fall asleep to. The stories, whilst imaginative, aren't going to win any literary prizes. The style is "American", it is aimed at younger readers, it does have some laughable lines (the sex scenes will make you cringe) - but I can't help but love them.
