Summary
No stranger to sprawling country estates, wealthy Daisy Dalrymple is breaking new ground in having scandalously traded silver spoon for pen and camera to cover a story for Town and Country magazine. But her planned interviews with the inhabitants of Wentwater Court give way to interrogation after suave Lord Stephen Astwick meets a dire fate on the tranquil skating pond.
Armed with evidence that his fate was anything but accidental, Daisy joins forces with Scotland Yard to examine an esteemed collection of suspects and to see that the unlikely culprit doesn't slip through their fingers just as the unfortunate Astwick slipped through the ice.

Good story
Loved the story but why have an American read a English story? The accents are totally wrong and do spoil the story.

Let down by narrator
Have always liked the Daisy Dalrymple books but my goodness, this audio was badly let down by the narrator's ghastly American pronunciation and mangled English. This detracted from the story with every wince-making murder of the English language of the period.

Good story
The story was ok as detection stories go. Likeable characters. The lady narrating has a terrible English accent and really doesn't know how to pronounce a lot of English words, especially as she was trying to emulate an upper class accent from the twenties. Her rural coppers accents were even better 🤣.

Very poor narration
The attempt at an English accent was excruciating and there were many errors of pronunciation

Dodgy accent but good story
The story is entertaining - a proper country house murder mystery. The American narrator is surprisingly good despite her seriously dodgy 'English' accent. Her pronunciation of words like Fenella and Step Mama were hilarious. There was a definite touch of the Dick Van Dykes when the servants spoke. A non-British listener wouldn't mind it as much. After my initial horror it actually was very well performed but why not use an English person? There are plenty available.

Good story, poor narrator
It is such a shame when a well-written book is spoiled by an awful reader!

Narrator spoils the experience
I would not buy this because the narration is so poor. Whilst the mispronunciation of obscure words is understandable, the attempts regional accents are dreadful and even some common words are mispronounced.
I persevered because I enjoyed the story and I want to hear more from this author so will be trying to concentrate on the plots rather than enjoying the treat of being read to.

loved the story
Great story, and will definitely read more by this author, but the American pronunciation of English words was a bit off-putting.
