About this listen
'Ross Greenwood doesn’t write clichés. What he has written here is a fast-paced, action-filled puzzle with believable characters that's spiced with a lot of humour' Kath Middleton
A brutal double murder on a Norfolk beach horrifies the town of Cromer. The way the victims died is chilling and so Norfolk’s Major Investigation Team task DS Ashley Knight to manage the case.
It soon becomes clear that the murders were carefully planned and the finger of suspicion points to an organised crime gang, but as the evidence mounts, a far more sinister theory emerges.
Ashley has been allocated a young but opinionated partner in Hector Fade, and sparks soon fly. Annoyingly for Ashley, Hector is no pushover and looks destined for great things. When the pair delve into the case, they struggle to understand who would inflict such suffering on their victims and hope the crime is a one off from a deranged and dangerous individual. But then another body is found.
There’s a killer on the loose who must be caught, or other victims will meet their fate by the sea.
Bestselling Ross Greenwood is back with the start of an exciting new series, perfect for fans of Mark Billingham, Ian Rankin and Peter James.
'Move over Rebus and Morse; a new entry has joined the list of great crime investigators in the form of Detective Inspector John Barton. A rich cast of characters and an explosive plot kept me turning the pages until the final dramatic twist' Richard Burke
'The Norfolk series is Ross’s crowning achievement - characters to root for, an intricate web of suspense, all set against a stunning backdrop. I can’t wait for more' Wes Markin

New Detective
Loved the DI Barton novels. Thought I would give this new series a go. Glad I did, great characters and liked the bit of humour as well. Narrator no problem he does the DI Barton series and like his style. Can’t wait for the next in the series

Another winner
Yet another excellent story from Ross Greenwood who is feast becoming a favourite writer for both my wife and I. A word about the reader, who makes a first class job of bringing the characters of the story to life as he did previously with the D I Barton books. A great team

A bit disappointing
Very gory, and not as amusing as the Barton series. The plot was complex and a bit silly too. So not a series I will rush back to, though the Ashley and Hector characters are attractive.

Great story. narrator needs work.
The intonation of the narrator is a little off putting. He seems as if this is his first reading and there are breaks and pauses where there shouldn't be and lack where they should be. I do like the twists and turns of the story and the lead character is very interesting. looking forward to seeing them grow but I think I'll be reading not listening to the next book

Very slow to get going
Narrator saved this book. Really enjoyed previous by this author but this could have been shorter with more pace. Glad I got it from the + catalogue as I would have asked for refund.
