Sequel to Dirty Secret

For ex-cop turned private investigator Cole McGinnis, each day brings a new challenge. Too bad most of them involve pain and death. Claudia, his office manager and surrogate mother, is still recovering from a gunshot, and Cole's closeted boyfriend, Kim Jae-Min, suddenly finds his teenaged sister dumped in his lap. Meanwhile, Cole has his own sibling problems-most notably, a mysterious half brother from Japan whom his older brother, Mike, is determined they welcome with open arms.

As if his own personal dramas weren't enough, Cole is approached by Madame Sun, a fortune-teller whose clients have been dying at an alarming rate. Convinced someone is after her customers, she wants the matter investigated, but the police think she's imagining things. Hoping to put Sun's mind at ease, Cole takes the case and finds himself plunged into a Gordian knot of lies and betrayal where no one is who they are supposed to be and Death seems to be the only card in Madame Sun's deck.

I hadn't read this in pixels or print before listening to this and I decided not to switch between audio and pixels but I found it really frustrating to have to wait to listen to more of the book on the occasions when I had to stop listening (during dinner etc when I had to be social!)
I loved this book! It had angst, love, passion, violence, humour, hatefulness, as well as banana balls craziness. I teared up at parts; I laughed at others. Ichiro's character made a brief appearance but there was enough to make me want to zip forward to his story (but I will be good and listen in order). No Scarlet in this one which was a shame, but plenty of Bobby which often added to the humour. The mystery was convoluted and I didn't see the identity of the killer coming at all.
And OMG that ending!
Greg Tremblay was awesome. The characters all have their own unique voices or tones and the emotion he can put into the dialogue is excellent. I'm glad he's narrated them all as I don't think I could get into Cole, Jae, Bobby, Maddy and Scarlet narrated by anyone else.

Would you listen to Dirty Laundry again? Why?

Yep!! There is so much more than a love story/who done it, going on in this series and the glimpses into Korean customs is really interesting.

What other book might you compare Dirty Laundry to, and why?

I can not think of any other book that I can compare to this. The whole Korean cultural spectrum is completely outside my understanding. I think Ms Fords gave us a fascinating insight

What does Greg Tremblay bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Tremblay brings the story to life. His portrayal of the characters are so realistic. I can't speak Korean but I am convinced that he can.
I read the latest book in the series-Dirty Deeds and I heard his voice in every dialogue between Jae and Cole. Really good Narration

Another emotionally charged 5 star masterpiece from Greg Tremblay. I really think Rhys ought to consider writing comedy cos she makes me laugh my head off most of the time...especially at Cole, Bobby and Claudia (she's so droll), but the sheer amount of emotional feels packed into this story takes it to a whole new level, and I LOVED that Kim Jae-Min finally [at last!!] said 'I Love You' in English to Cole, although admittedly at a really awful time for him as his silly bitch of a mother had just thrown him out of the family, but Cole and the gang are his family now, and definitely there for him when he needs support. Yay!!
