Summary

Unemployed university professor Tyler Marsh is pounding the pavement looking for a job. After a year of rejections based on her over-qualification, she's dumbed down her resume in a desperate attempt to get her foot in the door somewhere—anywhere! Then, Buffalo's leading marine engineering firm offers her a low-level placement as a personal assistant.

Chief Innovation Officer and wounded veteran Georgie DiNamico doesn't want an assistant or anyone else bothering her. She has her work, her dog, and her nightmares to keep her company. Heir-apparent to her family's engineering firm, a head injury suffered in Afghanistan has left her feeling too broken for anything else.

Georgie has no use for the helper that her family insists she hire. But when Tyler's resume lands on her desk, along with a company background check listing the advanced degrees she omitted, Georgie sees an opportunity to add a researcher to her R&D team.

Tyler quickly realizes that her new boss is not the damaged goods everyone sees. She recognizes something special in Georgie DiNamico, garnering trust, loyalty, and something more . . . something Tyler hasn't thought about for a very, very long time.

Contains mature themes.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. Made me laugh out loud in places, the characters are so well written and there are a lot of them to keep track of but I loved them all. looking forward to the next book just added to my wishlist.

This Book has been Brought to Life

This is one of my go to books when feeling down. so when I heard a recorded version had been released I waa a bit nervous. I shouldn't have been as the narration was perfect.

the way the author had Shown George's difficulties but the way Tyler helped her was very heartwarming. also the family rivalry brought a realistic side to the story.

All I ask for now is the follow-up book is recorded by the same narrator.

very enjoyable...

very enjoyable and a little bit different. I liked the main characters. The narrator does a great job, so many narrators can't seem to make the two love interests sound feminine when required but MM nailed it. !

Great book, give it a go

Really enjoyed listening to this book, I went through it really quickly and it kept me on my toes. It has lots of characters so it can be a bit hard to keep track of who is who at times but that’s also part of what makes it so good. That extra bit of complexity and richness. Not just a simple two character romance, with the typical does “she like me, does she not like me” . This has more than that and I want to listen to the other books by Sheryl now!

Intriguing f/f romance - loved it!

This story has a great plot with complex, sometimes larger than life, but all the same very believable characters. The plot has a lot of engaging dynamics and kept my interest at all times despite the fact that the number of characters and the structure of the story made it difficult to follow a few times. That said, I found it difficult to stop listening to this audiobook and often went late into the night.

Following some parts of the story was made extra difficult because one cannot check back through the text in audiobook format. For this reason it might be better to read rather than listen to this book. However, I think you would loose a lot because Melissa Moran does a great job narrating and really brings the story to life. She differentiates between the characters through different styles of speech, conveys the characters emotions and the mood of the story very well indeed.

Sheryl Wright handles the character development and the romantic attraction between the two main characters beautifully. Georgie, in particular, is a wonderful character. I could imagine working in her company and would love to spend my life around these people. I miss the characters now the audiobook has ended and would love Sheryl Wright to write more about them.

good book

loved the story line and how it didn't jump straight into the bedroom. loved the characters though had trouble at times seeing them as realistic and was more like watching a soap. I was invested, if not sceptical about the impediment which came and went but was ruined the book for me and stopped me enjoying it was when during the very first time the two finally fall into bed, the shy professional reserved employee morphes into a dominatrix or something as she starts calling her boss 'baby' It made me shout at the writer whilst listening omg have you never had a moment like this where you finally get intimate with a person you have been longing for who is also your superior you are nervous and unsure you certainly don't suddenly jump into dom mode and within 5 mins are calling her baby and talking to her like she is the anxious one. it's like they switched roles it was soul destroying. apart from that it was a good plot good story and interesting without cheese and cliché so I'd recommend but do prepare yourself for the cheese twist and confusion later on.
