About this listen

Penny has a dead end job in a London café, a boyfriend in Australia (what could go wrong?) and an art career that's going nowhere...until one good deed leads to an extraordinary proposition.

This is her chance to turn her life around and at long last, fulfil her dream to visit Venice. Maybe, just maybe, she could even find true happiness with the handsome man of her dreams.

The readers voice first struck me as too girly and babyish, but it grew on me as the story gathered pace. Great atmosphere and doubt about the ending kept going almost to end.

Interesting plot before obligatory happy ending

Although the writing was fine, and I chose this as I have read all in the Murder in… series, it was not to my taste. Maybe targeted at the ‘chick lit’ audience. But as I say it was purely not to my taste.

A different genre from the Murder series
