Beautiful story

I thoroughly enjoyed the stepping back in time and links to present day. I couldn't stop listening.

Story line

Had me on edge a few times and I nearly stopped listening because I didn’t want to hear what the character was going to do but loved the story right to the end

Delightful tale if a little predictable

While I did enjoy this gentle listen to the end I was frequently wishing it wasn’t quite so long winded.

Lovely story, questionable narration

This was a lovely, easy to follow story with believable characters who were well described by the author. The tale flowed well and was good to follow. I won't spoil your enjoyment of the listen by going over the story itself. However, for me it was spoiled by the narration. Antonia Beamish has a lovely voice, but it seemed to me that in her desire to speak clearly and enunciate each word she lost the flow of the phrases and sentences, thus giving the story-telling a spiky feel rather than a smooth, unobtrusive way of getting the words into the listeners head. A shame as the story itself deserved better.

Okay, but way too many flashbacks

The story was entertaining enough but too many important events were told instead of shown to us. I ended up skipping most of the latter part of the story.

Long winded

No doubt Eric’s James can write well, but golly they are long winded novels. Far too much detailed narrative, would prefer more interaction between the characters. Nice story but actually said thank God when it ended.
