A true insight into The past of Ancient Rome including all of the true characters that made it.

A brilliant series, a true insight.

Great story, great narrator. Would highly recommend.
Would not recommend this review app though. It's incredibly irritating in every way

Excellent

narrator is bad, but the story is brilliant, I've read the book and there are bits I had forgotten. Conn has an incredible way of making you feel like you know Julius and generates a genuinely exciting story that takes you through the life of Julius and the people he interacts with. I especially like the historical notes which are honest and highlight where Conn has expanded on the truth or where there are characters that have been fabricated to assist the narrative. Unfortunately the narrator let's the book down, not only because of the speech impediment but the emphasis and tone varies wildly, but into he wrong places in my opinion. all that being said still worth a listen.

The narration is awful due to the narrator’s awful pronunciation of so many words distracting from the story

Awful narrator

i.fully recommend getting this if you enjoyed the previous books. it's a great continuation to the story using the characters that have been well developed in previous books. the performance is good but the pronunciations of names are irritating and even worse, they are at times inconsistent. I really don't know how the reader came up his versions.

great story. fine performance

Enjoyed the book on the whole, but found the pronunciation of names inconsistent and distracting from the story. Also, a note to the producers, please use the same narrator for all the books in a series.

Well written content, distracting narration

Great book, beautiful story, great character development. The Narrator butchered the names in places which was a bit frustrating

Narrator didn't pronounce names very well

Narrator is unable to get names or basic words right. An example is narrator keeps calling Octavian, Octawian. Other characters also have their names completely mispronounced. Eventually gets fustrating.

Great story but poor narrator

Conn story telling is immaculate, characters leap out, action plays out and the plot weaves about. This series however was spoiled by the change in narrator and the latest ones lack of clarity in pronunciation. Whilst the producers may have wanted Latin a La Caeser, what the contemporary ear needed was 21st c pronunciation. The W instead of the V, the K instead of the C were all a mistake as they jarred the ear and confused the understanding. Poor narration of book 3 and beyond spoiled a superb series.

Brilliant story, poor narration

Despite the terrible narration and mispronunciations, this book is well worth a listen. Why an English speaker cannot pronounce Octavian, Veni Vidi Vici, is beyond me! These are only a couple of examples of a catalogue of errors.

Great tale TERRIBLE narration.
