About this listen
Two people haunted by their past....
Alexander Wraxall, sixth Marquess of Eagleton, worries he may be cursed. Those close to him tend to die, and he believes he is, in part, responsible for their deaths. When he receives a packet of letters from a relative he thought long dead, he embarks on a journey that will change his life forever.
Since washing up on the shores of Lake Garda, Nell Marsdon has put her nightmarish history behind her and, in the house of Angelica Montovani, has found some peace. It is shattered by the arrival of the Marquess of Eagleton, a man who represents everything she has learned to despise.
Under the sun of a foreign land, they will be forced to confront their deepest fears, but will it unite or divide them?

The end to a wonderful series
I was glad to have the chance to listen to this book, as I have enjoyed it so much more than when I read it last year.
The setting of the story in Italy was a great choice and Jenny Hambly’s wonderful descriptive writing really makes you feel part of the story, with interesting characters and plenty of twists and turns along the way.
Helen Taylor’s narration was superb, she is one of my favourite narrators.
This was such a lovely end to the wonderful confirmed bachelor series.

Very good!
Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Very well written and very well narrated. IMO Helen Taylor is one of the best narrators, brings the story to life without overdramatising it.

Great story of the reformation of the rake
Want to know what happened to Eagleton after recovering from the duel and forcing him to marry? Then this is the book for you.
This story takes us out of the stuffiness of regency England to the emotive and expressionist Italy. Forgotten family found, unearthed secrets, and the usual plot twists and romance. Overall a thoroughly good listen.

Good sequel
A good plot with damaged characters set in warm, passionate Italy. Narrator does a good job.
