About this listen

Reese Eddings has enough to do just keeping her rattletrap merchant vessel, the TMS Earthrise, profitable enough to pay food for herself and her micro-crew. So when a mysterious benefactor from her past shows up demanding she rescue a man from slavers, her first reaction is to say "NO!" And then to remember that she sort of promised to repay the loan. But she doesn't remember signing up to tangle with pirates and slavers over a space elf prince…

At first I found the narrator a little frustrating but more I listened the more I realised that his voice suited the story. The story is not complicated but was surprising pleasant to listen to. Although this type of story of an off beat crew that seems to constantly find themselves in situations that are dangerous to their well being, the writer has written in such a way that it is a fresh and intriguing. The balance between seriousness and humour is just right. If you don't want to listen to something heavy, I suggest you give this a try.
