Summary
The first original novel tying into the critically acclaimed and much-missed Firefly series from creator Joss Whedon
The Battle of Serenity Valley was the turning point that led the Independents to their defeat at the hands of the Alliance. Yet the Browncoats had held the valley for weeks against all odds, before being ordered to lay down their arms. Command stated they refused to send in airpower because the ground war was "too hot". But the soldiers who were there insist that was not true....
While picking up a new cargo on Persephone, Captain Malcolm Reynolds is kidnapped by a bunch of embittered veteran Browncoats who suspect him of sabotaging the Independents during the war. As the rest of the crew struggle to locate him, Mal is placed on trial for his life, fighting compelling evidence that someone did indeed betray them to the Alliance all those years ago. As old comrades and old rivals crawl out of the woodwork, Mal must prove his innocence, but his captors are desperate and destitute, and will settle for nothing less than the culprit’s blood.

Loved it!
I loved Firefly and Serenity so I was either going to love this or fell disappointed. I am happy to stay it was the former! I loved it!
I could picture the actors playing out the scenes and their characters rang true.
The story was great, weaving past and present actions together, to form a tale that unwove brilliantly.
The narration was excellent.
I will look to get the other audiobooks in this series. ☺️

This is the real thing
This could’ve been an episode right out of the series, it’s all there, the crew, serenity, the verse, the odd jobs, obstacles and some goram fine performance by James and James 😎

Wonderful
Excellent first attempt with plenty to offer. The ending seems rushed but its decent nonetheless.

Shiny yarn from the crew of Serenity
Great story, goes into some of the character backgrounds, and definitely getting the feel of the Verse right.

Made me smile and laugh
James Anderson Foster is a voice i can happily listen to (and i've skimed through too many samples in Audible mostly finding mono-tone narrators that just sound like they dont care), He fits comfortably into the general vibe of Firefly and makes the mental image of the settings only feel more fitting. James Lovegrove nails a story very inkeeping with Firefly and he deserves all appriciation you could ever give him, keep em coming

Lovin' bein' back in the 'verse!
definitely had a feel of the original show. Both the author and narrator got the characterisation and voices right.
Story could have stood a little more complexity - I'd have liked a bigger conspiracy element bringing the Hands of Blue in but hey...can't have it all.
