Summary
My boss. My sin.
I’m not the type who has one-night stands.
It wasn’t supposed to happen, okay?
A couple of drinks and a sinful British accent later and I’m in bed with a stranger.
Of course, I left first thing in the morning because I’m a responsible adult.
An adult who has a new job that I need in order to keep my double life a secret.
Little did I know I’m not, in fact, responsible.
Because the stranger I left in bed? Yeah, he’s not a stranger after all.
He’s my new boss.
Knox Van Doren might have a charming smile, but a true villain lurks beneath it all.
And like any villain, he’ll use my sin against me....
Empire of Sin is a complete stand-alone. No other books should be listened to prior to this.

Brilliant Story & Narration🎧 Sinfully Amazing!
Rina Kent continues to wow me with another amazing novel set in her “Empire” series, a series of standalone books, each one featuring different lead characters, some characters appear in each other’s books but you do not have to know their story to enjoy the books. But I will say, each book is as amazing as the other, and no two are alike, all new and original storylines and plots which make the series even more special and unique. This book drew me in immediately, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire time. I also found the two lead characters intriguing from the moment they were first introduced with a determined and brave Anastasia out by herself in a bar looking for a hookup, something she has never done before. And then he sits next to her, a gorgeous man with a British accent, an arrogant man with fire in his eyes and exudes trouble. Instead of running, she stayed, and together they had a memorable and steamy one-night stand before she disappears during the night, leaving him wanting more until he finds out she was not entirely truthful to him. Knox Van Doren does not like liars and that is exactly what she was. Anastasia escapes from her life and reinvents herself, changes her appearance and her name to hide her true identity, she is now Jane Shaw. Jane gets a tech job in the IT department of the prestigious law firm, Weaver & Shaw. The last person she imagined running into was him, her one-night stand, and he recognizes her despite her disguise and gives her a hard time about being a liar. She denies his allegations, but he is relentless and is determined to find out what her deal is. The chemistry between these two is explosive but Knox refuses to entertain it or a liar, but he could only deny himself for so long. Anastasia/Jane is determined to not reveal who she really is, not just for her sake but for those around her too. And she is not the only one with secrets and past demons, Knox has a closet full of his own. The back and forth banter between this two is remarkable, as is when they give in to their desires. The complexity to these characters and the world building is phenomenal. It was great to learn more about both of them and to watch as the layers of ice around Knox’s heart started to thaw. I admired Anastasia for her bravery and for standing up to what she believed in. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully written and plotted enemies to lovers romance novel, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and some smoking hot loving. Rina Kent, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, once again Rina Kent chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. John Hartley and Vanessa Edwin are wonderfully talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that is a perfect fit to that character’s persona, sounding believable and just as I picture the character to sound, accents and all. Vanessa Edwin’s Anastasia was spot on, she grasped her strength and determination, as well as her vulnerabilities and insecurities when she showed them. John Hartley nailed it as Knox grasped his angry alpha-tude right from the start, even softened him up a tad when he started to thaw. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to and their narration enhances an already brilliant story to another level. Thank you for another amazing listen!

Wow
I was SUPER curious about Knox from the moment we met him, and this crossover DEFINITELY filled in the blanks.
Plain Jane/ mafia princess meets ruthless businessman and I am here for it.
I was left wanting in the tension department, but the other parts definitely made up for it.

Age gap with a side of Mafia, yes please!
This one is an age gap workplace romance with a hint of Mafia, and I loved this story. The main characters were likeable, even when Knox was being a nightmare I still liked him. Anastasia is the Mafia princess running from a life she hates, trying to be a plain Jane at work. I remember her from Book 1 and I’m so glad we got her story. Some of the timeline is in sync with book 1. It’s always fun to see the same events from another couple’s perspective.
Vanessa is always able to pull you in. Her voice is expressive and I loved that she really made me get Anastasia. John gave us the alpha Knox through and through but also lets us see the reason he’s built those walls around his heart. The dynamic was clear and I really enjoyed this audiobook.
There are secrets and lies and a sprinkling of Russian Mafia appearances. It just gave this story a little more edge. Anastasia can’t believe she enjoys submitting. She’s perfect for the domineering Knox. The air between these two is charged to the max and there’s a healthy dose of throat grabbing, yes please and thank you, Rina.
No clues as to the plot because you really need to read/listen to it to enjoy the little twists and turns and revelations.
A great addition to this addictive series.

What a ride!
Rina Kent is keeping me on her wild ride with the Empire series! I am captivated by the stories, and love the plots! This story features Anastasia. A Bratva princess breaking free from her family, she has disguised herself and now works for the law offices of Weaver & Shaw in the IT department. We previously met her in the first book of the series, and she tended to be a lone wolf, nerdy type of girl. But not in this story! She puts herself out there and finds herself in bed with one of the lawyers in her firm. The arrogant, British Knox Van Doren loves his one night stands, but there is something different about this one. And when he wakes, she is gone! That never happens. Now with a few bits of her real life, he seeks her out finding she is not only an employee, but a liar! And our story begins. Heat, passion, fear, danger, deception, family, memories best forgotten and a growing love that is impossible to break, this book has it all. Anastasia is a powerful character. She is young, but mature, Brave, persistent and loyal, she will do what she has to, She loves with her whole heart and knows what she wants. Knox shows us a bunch of sides to his personality. He holds secrets that explain so much, and he is obsessive and protective. This story flew by, kept me completely engaged and excited to see where is all would end. I can't wait to delve into the next book in this series.
John Hartley and Vanessa Edwin and an amazing team. Hartley gives us that strong, alpha male that Knox is. He understands Knox and brings out all of the emotions he can with this performance including the Russian accent. Edwin pulls out all the stops as Anastasia. She has an incredible array of emotions to portray and gives us both British and Russian accents! This team is fantastic and made for an enjoyable listen.

This book sucked me in from the beginning and I love the constant push and pull between him and Anastasia and his possessiveness.
There were definitely some scenes that were 🥵 and I loved it all!

Ps: I definitely loved the fact that the other characters from her previous books made some cameos, that was literally the best parts for me!

Hot, sexy, enemies to lovers romance!
Empire of Sin is book two in the Empire series and is the complete standalone story of Anastasia Sokolov and Knox Van Doren.
Anastasia wasn’t born a mafia princess, however she soon learned that the tiara, title, and castle come with a hefty price tag…freedom. Ana decides she wants to have one sinful night with a stranger before she starts a new life on the run, far away from her family.
Know, a notorious criminal lawyer walks into a bar in New Jersey and immediately see’s the gorgeous blonde in a red dress with a butterfly on her back at the bar. He takes her to a hotel and only realises she was a virgin the next morning when he wakes up alone and sees the blood on the condom and wash cloth.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and Knox is surprised to see the woman who has occupied his thoughts in the elevator, only she has completely changed her appearance and introduces herself as Jane Summers. He knows it’s Anastasia and has no idea why she’s lying but is determined to find out. They are hiding sides of themselves from each other while giving in to the lust and desire they feel for one another in a no strings arrangement.
The incredibly talented Vanessa Edwin and John Hartley bring Anastasia and Knox to life. Vanessa’s sweet, melodic voice was simply perfect to portray the angelic on the outside and vixen on the inside runaway mafia princess. John’s deep, gruff British brogue was perfect to breath life into the perfectly imperfect, dirty talking, alpha-hole. I love this pairing together; they really complement one another and are amazing.
I loved to Knox and Ana’s story. If you love a good enemies to lovers, one-night stand to lovers, friends with benefits to lovers trope with a damaged dirty talking alpha-hole who knows his way around a woman’s body and a sweet, innocent yet strong and independent heroine then grab this audiobook and lost in it as I did, you won’t be disappointed.
