Summary
First comes marriage. Then comes divorce. Then it's every woman for herself....
Every Woman for Herself is a hilarious account of divorce and dating from Sunday Times best seller Trisha Ashley. Perfect for fans of Katie Fforde and Carole Matthews, the country setting and rom-com storyline make this the perfect summer companion.
When Charlie's husband Matt tells her that he wants a divorce she has to start from scratch. Suddenly single, broke, and approaching 40 she is forced to return to her childhood home in the Yorkshire moors.
Living with her father and eccentric siblings could be considered a challenge but soon Charlie finds her new life somewhat refreshing. Now that she's single she's got no need to dye her roots nor to be the perfect wife and she can return to her first love - painting.
But just as she begins to feel settled, handsome, bad-tempered actor Mace North moves in down the road and starts mixing things up for Charlie in more ways than one....

Funny. Entertaining. Amusing. Definitely Chiccy- Flicky tho
A quaint little story. It took a very unexpected , surprising turn, very near the beginning which made it interesting. The book is very funny. Little witticisms sprinkled liberally throughout . OK they were corney & cliched witticisms but they did the trick & made me laugh. Well read on the whole but the narrator ( although improved) still struggles with male voice interpretations.

Great escape story
After a number of fantasy sci fly novels this was a fabulous change. I love the characters - strangely familiar after a childhood in Derbyshire (not Yorkshire but pretty close). The family bond is fabulous. I would recommend this to any one who enjoys a good yarn.

Funny and touching!
A great book, a bit slow to begin with and I had to listen to the first three chapters twice to get into it but once I was in I was tied and couldn’t turn it off!!!

Great Fun
This is a romance which doesn't take itself too seriously. Lots of unexpectedness in the plot, odd-ball characters, and it's always engaging. It also has a satisfying happy ending. The style of narration fits in with the feel of the book, and makes it easy to differentiate between which character is speaking. A great feel-good book.

Nice easy read
Would you consider the audio edition of Every Woman for Herself to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version of this book so I am afraid I am unable to comment on how it compares to the audio book version
What other book might you compare Every Woman for Herself to, and why?
I think it is similar to a lot of romantic fiction writers out there.
What about Julia Barrie’s performance did you like?
I enjoyed Julia's performance it was pleasant and her voicing the other character's was convincing and seemingly accurate to their roles and parts
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No, it's not that sort of book really, although there are some nice sections related to the child and the lead character, but nothing I would determine to be emotionally moving.
Any additional comments?
It is a pleasant read and there were certainly times when I did laugh here and there. I would say the storyline was rather unconvincing, certainly with regard to the lead character's romance. It seemed to go from nothing to all, with little substance in between. Nevertheless, I would purchase another book by the author and there were some nice and witty moments within it.

enjoyed that one or two bits didn't makes sense.
narrator great. if Charlie was painting and her husband was paying the bills why didn't she have any money? that doesn't make sense. she says she's gone off men except for and then you can't understand what she says who is she talking about?
I find this very soothing and enjoyable and often listen to it to go to sleep.

A laugh out loud tale
If you could sum up Every Woman for Herself in three words, what would they be?
Strife, love and giggles
Who was your favorite character and why?
So many wonderful characters. Charlie is a lovely warm character and Caitlin is a gem.
What does Julia Barrie bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Julia Barrie brought the characters to life. Her intonation is excellent. A super bonus is reading the book with the lights off.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Life can go right accidentally
Any additional comments?
If your fond of Chicklit enjoy this book for a funny and rye look a one woman's life adventures. Highly recommended.
