About this listen

What would you do if a secret was causing your family to crumble?

Is there a secret terrible enough that it should never be revealed, not even if it was tearing a family apart? For more than five decades, Emma Bauer has kept one - carefully guarding it with all her strength, and for more than five decades, that choice has haunted her life and also the lives of her daughters and granddaughter. Is it too late for wrongs to be righted? Does Emma even have the strength to let the healing power of truth work in her family?

The story of four generations of women and the powerful effects their choices have had on their lives is at the heart of Eve's Daughters, an epic novel from author Lynn Austin. Grand in scope but tender and personal at the same time, it will please you as a fan of contemporary or historical fiction.

Exploring times from World War I to the 1980s, Eve's Daughters is an insightful look at mothers, daughters, sisters, and families that allows you to see a little bit of yourself through the characters' triumphs, struggles, and hard-tested faith.

Yearning for love, dignity, and freedom, the four generations of women must come to terms with the choices they have made. Healing comes when the past is forgiven, but only when they embrace God's forgiveness can they shatter the cycle that has ruled their lives over the decades.

Wonderful book!

I think this was the best book I've ever listened to on Audible and it was free with the plus catalogue too which was a bonus! I'm a Christian of no particular denomination though I was in the Catholic Church for some years so could identify with the Catholic elements in the book. I absolutely loved the stories of the various characters' lives and how their family lives evolved. The book was totally absorbing and very well narrated. Highly recommended.

Loved it

I have been greatly blessed by this book, learning all over again of how deep the Father's love for us is.
I particularly love the way the narrator was able to switch accents from German to Irish to American.

Fabulous story, annoying narration

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, as I do all Lynn Austin’s books. It’s a pity about the narration though. It probably would have be better if the narrator had just read it without attempting accents - the “Irish” accent was the worst, and was very irritating. Overall though, I would recommend the book, simply for the moving and beautiful story.

The ebb and flow of life

This is an amazing story crossing from the 1800s to 2000s. a story of ordinary people whose lives were changed by the power and love of God. I could not stop listening and am sorry that I'm at the end. the narration was excellent. the twists and turns of the story had me keen to stop cleaning house and listen to another chapter.
I highly recommend this book.

Didn't want this book to end!

I loved this book. It is filled with so much emotion. At times it had me in tears, but I also loved how the author resolved everything in the ending.
