About this listen

Audiobook 3 in the Farsight Series

Deep in the Vior’losan desert, an exile both revered and reviled lives a life of solitude. Farsight has retired his uncanny alien sword and bleeding-edge XV8 battlesuit so that his beloved enclaves can prosper in peace. But when the jaws of a tyranid bio-fleet close in on Vior’los, threatening to devour his adopted home, he must once more take up his blade in its defence.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Farsight is back! As the legendary commander comes out of retirement, can he deal with both a vicious alien invasion and the plotting of an ethereal to save his home? It's another action-packed tale from the master of the t'au empire, Phil Kelly.

THE STORY

As the tyranids consume the planet of Vior'los and its enclaves, an inside threat emerges in the form of the scheming ethereal Aun’Va, and the fortress world is soon reduced to its last eight warriors. Among them is Torchstar, a young rebel in possession of battlesuits prised from Aun’Va’s iron grip, and as unlikely allies are thrown together in the dwindling hope of victory, Farsight’s ultimate test is still to come.

The Tyranids, Farsight and his company of Heroes and the dastardly Aun'va all make splendid account of themselves in this one.

The Tau's greatest Hero returns to save his worlds

But I am really getting to dislike stories with tyrannids as the main antagonist, they are so overwhelming as to make any opposition seem futile, I enjoyed mostly the chapters dealing with Tau revolt and the Aun but please no more tyrannids

Great story overall

everything was top notch from the fight to the drama, I can't wait for the next book

Excellent farsight story, maybe the best yet. But they spend too much time jacking off torch star when all she does is shoot things with a flame thrower. There’s probably an hours worth of story time just dedicated to saying how amazing torch star is, I nearly put down the book but it brought me back round.

Good but flawed

It’s just boring. Not sure what else to say. The VA is fantastic as always, the plot is ‘ok’, but it is a dull story and slow to get started.

It’s a slow burner…

What an absolute joy this audiobook was. I’ve listened to the previous 2 and they were good but this really was something very special. I listened to the entire story in less than a week and was captivated the entire time, I even found myself saying ‘no!’ Out loud several times in sympathy for and during tricky times for Farsight such was my engulfment in the narrative. Wonderfully written and read I would definitely recommend!

Greater than good

Really good voice actor, but the story is kind of boring. It does not bring anything new to the table. The two previous books were great so I hope for one more.

Kind of meh

Say what you want about this series and the author, I enjoyed every minute of it.

An amazing end to a great trilogy of books. Sold performances all round. And Phil Kelly does a great job of bringing Farsight to life. Well worth a read.

Brilliant.

The best Tau book I have read bar none. Witty narrative and with a clear well structured storyline. A storyline that also twists and turns with major 40k characters too!

Narrated superbly too.

The best Tau book I have read bar none.
