Suspenseful sisters who-dun-it court case!
Intrigued by the premise, two sister's blaming each other for the murder of their father, gambled that Fifty-Fifty, book 5 in the Eddie Flynn Series, new to me, could be listened to as a stand alone novel. It can.
It's all starts, with two emergency calls, one from each sister claiming the other sister's a killer. Both are arrested & charged. Their father was stabbed 53 times! The perplexing question is which of his daughters is the guilty one, the least damaged, independent golden girl Alexandra or anxious black sheep Sophia? Each lawyers up. So convincing are the sisters, each defence lawyer's convinced of their clients innocent & a double trial starts, ensuring the Prosecuting Attorney of at least one murder conviction.
The stories told from different view points, predominately Eddie Flynn whose defending Sophia, Kate Brooks whose defending Alexandra and the mysterious She, the sister filled with dark desires & thoughts, whose taste for murder is nothing new, and who will stop at nothing to convict her sibling & walk free herself.
The suspense is kept going throughout, with more deaths, and the evidence against, the guilt constantly shifting from one sister to the other, leaving you guessing almost to the very end. The court exchanges are great, particularly enjoyed the hair fibre analysis expert being made caught out by a dog hair from stray Clarence.
This is my first book by author Steve Cavanagh but it won't be my last, will be looking out for more cases defended by the newly formed law firm of Flynn & Brooks.
