Summary

A scorching-hot enemies-to-lovers romance featuring a strong, feisty heroine and the billionaire boss she’d love to hate, an unforgettable kiss, a whole lot of lies, an irresistible battle of will…and a twisted deal that just might save them both from losing it all.

Dane Davenport was the most gorgeous, popular, and hateable guy I went to high school with.

And now? He’s the one thing standing in the way of my dream: to own the talent agency I’ve devoted my career to. Because he just bought it.

I don’t care how hot he looks in a suit. Or how many times he wants to remind me about that stupid kiss when we were teenagers.

(So what if I kissed him back? He started it!)

He’s the bosshole from hell, and now I’m stuck with him - unless he decides to fire me.

I loathe that he has the power here, and he knows it.

Well, I am not going down without a fight.

But instead of firing me from the job I love, he does something even more evil: He asks me to help him - to save his reputation and his fortune.

I might be willing to make a deal with the devil - if it means I get my agency.

I might even be able to pretend I can stand the man who has the power to ruin me.

It’s a diabolical plan. But my hatred of him will protect me.

My heart isn’t part of this bargain.

So why does it pick up speed every time we fight?

Why is that ice-cold look in his eyes starting to thaw…and getting hotter than hell?

And when I discover someone’s out to ruin him, why do I want to fight for him so bad?

If I put everything on the line, including my heart, will Dane finally win this war between us?

Or could the devil from my past really be my Prince Charming?

4.5 Stars

This was a good book, with some very hot moments. I’m new to this Author but this book has me wanting to check out other work of hers. I would have given it 5 stars but the MC has a bit annoying to me at times, with the way she twisted what was being said, but it’s probably a fair assessment of what really happens in a young persons head. It just seemed conflicting with who she was trying to be portrayed as.

A book of two halves

I read this a while ago and remembered enjoying it so I thought I’d give the audible a go. I’m not sure whether the fact it was narrated made it worse somehow but for the first half of the book Devi thoroughly irritated me. She went beyond strong, independent empowered woman, to become, whiny, whinging, childish, woman. We are supposed to think she’s this awesome career woman who gets the job done and holds all men by the proverbials, yet Dane enters the picture and she becomes snarky, childish, demanding, insulting and reckless just because he was mean to her once in high school (or she thought he had been). This a successful guy who despite how he got his position he does seem pretty good at what he does yet Devi somehow thinks she knows best about EVERYTHING!. Even her original manager who she hated and thought was useless, she still took exception to her being fired.

I also had a bit of an issue re the sex tape. This is a general thing for me, but I can never understand why a sex tape of itself is such a big thing nowadays. Such a big thing that someone’s life can be turned upside down. In fact in this circumstance, the fact that Dane was actually the victim, yet not even those closest to him seemed to care. I think if the same thing had happened to Devi she would have expected people to question it. whereas she didn’t even think to do that. This irritated me as well.

I nearly gave up a few times but the fact I remembered the intrigue towards the end made me stick it out. Once Devi go over herself then the relationship and the story progressed and the second half of the book is much better than the first half. Still tho, The inner monologues from Devi are just tooooo much. She goes on, and on, and on. It’s so repetitive.

The narrators were great.

Not my favourite by this author.
