About this listen

After becoming an inadvertent viral sensation - and losing her job and her girlfriend as a result - Phoebe Shaw retreats to Vermont. Renovating her late grandmother's cabin into a vacation rental seems like the perfect way to lie low for a while. But the last person she expects to encounter on the property is the woman whose kiss was her teenage sexual awakening...and whom she's never quite forgotten.

Taylor Donovan has been hiking on the trails behind the Shaw family's cabin her whole life. As children, Taylor and Phoebe were best friends before sharing a secret summer romance when they were 16, which left Taylor brokenhearted when Phoebe fled at the end of the summer. Now the property has become Taylor's home away from home, and she wants nothing more than to convince the Shaws to sell it to her. But Phoebe's return puts a crimp in those plans - and brings back old feelings she thought she'd overcome.

Of all the things Phoebe regrets, leaving Taylor is at the top of the list, but Taylor is determined to protect her heart. Yet the pull between them is stronger than ever. This time around, will love stay hidden...or finally see the light of day?

Contains mature themes.

Love the animal welfare aspect!

Love Rachel’s writing, it’s like a warm hug. Nourishing, full of character, real emotion and picturesque imagery.

A light, enjoyable read with low angst and a touch of spice! 🤭🔥

Perfect weekend listening. 🥰

Sweet

A sweet story of childhood love reclaimed and lots and lots of dogs/puppies. A chilled, cosy listen.

Beautiful story and narration

Dogs, romance and a cabin in Vermont. Alongside Abby Craden’s caramel voice, there is nothing to not like about this audiobook. Loved every minute and listened to it in 3 days.

Pretty good

I’m not a huge fan of stories told from first person perspective. However, when I’m listening to these rather than reading, that helps a ton!

I appreciated we had two performers for this book - worked really well and particularly Abby Craden always nails her character voices.

Story-wise, great premise but I expected more of a commentary on how Phoebe renovated the property rather than all about the dogs. I mean, I’m a fan of dogs for sure, but that’s not what I expected upon reading the blurb for this book.

Sex scenes are well-written, as always from Rachel Lacey.

Relationship development between the protagonists was reasonable and I enjoyed the fact they were already in love as teenagers.

All in all this is a sweet, heartwarming read with a little added spice. Pretty good!

puppies

I loved the story, especially with dogs, but didn't need two narrators, lots of conversation and voices didn't gel between them, I got easily confused as to who was talking, excellent writing Rachel think ill read this on kindle.

It's...ok

The story it's nice but as someone pointed out, there are a lot of dogs, it feels like this story is half about the dogs 30% about one of the characters fears and 20% romance, it's good to fill the time when you don't have anything else to listen to

good story

Good story, predictable and I always want a happy ending ! I looked at this series and as with so much of audible there are much less 'lesfic' available for 'us' to listen to, only one in fact !
The puppies and dogs are loveable. Worth a listen because it is from the catalogue and free !
