About this listen
Atticus O'Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he's twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.
Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he's hounded Atticus for centuries. Now the determined deity has tracked him down, and Atticus will need all his power - plus the help of a seductive goddess of death, his vampire and werewolf team of attorneys, a sexy bartender possessed by a Hindu witch, and some good old-fashioned luck of the Irish - to kick some Celtic arse and deliver himself from evil.
This is book one of the Iron Druid Chronicles series. If you would like to hear more, you will find the first chapter of book two – Hexed – at the end of this recording.
©2011 Kevin Hearne (P)2013 Hachette AudioWould you listen to Hounded again? Why?
Yes. Hounded was a romp of a tale. Many of the minor characters are well drawn, especially Oberon, and the gods are as egocentric and unreliable as you'd expect them to be. Atticus is likeable and I quickly got drawn into the story and wanted to know what happened next. I've already bought the next book in the series.Who was your favorite character and why?
This would have to be Oberon. He was funny and smart and yet still doglike. How you imagine a dog might be if he could really communicate. He was also narrated particularly well, better than the women in the story. What about Christopher Ragland’s performance did you like?
His interpretation of the male characters was very good and Oberon a delight, but I did feel he struggled a little with the female characters, although it didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book at all.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It's not that kind of book. Although Oberon's "Only Five." Comment at the end moved me to laughter.Entertaining

Would you listen to Hounded again? Why?
I downloaded this book for my holidays thinking it might be an interesting read, I could not turn it off. I loved the characters, the style of writing and the action. I will probably listen to all the books in this series again at some stage.Who was your favorite character and why?
Is it a bit sad when a grown man says his favourite character is Oberon the Irish woofhound! I loved listening to his view of the world and the conversations he has Atticus. I like a book that makes me laugh out loud and all of Kevin Hearnes books have given me great pleasure to read.Have you listened to any of Christopher Ragland’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was the first time i had listened to Christopher but by the time I worked my way through all six books I had never tired of his excellent narration. He managed to get excited, angry, and knows how to swear well! He really brought the books to life which is so important and plays a talking dog fantastically .Fantastic series of books

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
yes and no, again i find in many books these days that authors are feeling there way out in the world and that for the most part i hate being the experiment that is used as the bouncing bored for world development.Would you be willing to try another book from Kevin Hearne? Why or why not?
yes i did and all, while lacking the wit of other urban fantasy he tries his best. Oberon makes these books and thats the truth.Did the narration match the pace of the story?
the narration was adequetWas Hounded worth the listening time?
yesAny additional comments?
there is a part in the book where the young man who is irish has just killed a man. an old irish lady goes protests untill the man says he's british. he mistakes the english octupation of island as the british. two very diffrent things as the irish have nothing against the scots or the welsh. just a small annoying bit.A book that wants to run with the big boys

I would have preferred an Irish narrator due to the characters origin but he does a good job - Note: I have since found out the main character has been in America long enough to have picked up the accent, therefore have no problem with this.
Enjoyable fantasy
