'This book may help those who are susceptible to illnesses that can be prevented with proper nutrition' – His Holiness the Dalai Lama
The international bestseller, Dr Michael Greger's How Not To Die, read by the author, gives effective, scientifically-proven nutritional advice to prevent our biggest killers. From heart disease, breast cancer, and prostate cancer, to high blood pressure and diabetes – it reveals the astounding health benefits that simple dietary choices can provide.
Why rely on drugs and surgery to cure you of life-threatening disease when the right decisions can prevent you from falling ill to begin with?
Based on the latest scientific research, How Not To Die examines each of the most common diseases to reveal what, how and why different foods affect us, and how increasing our consumption of certain foods and avoiding others can dramatically reduce our risk of falling sick and even reverse the effects of disease. It also shares Dr Greger's 'Daily Dozen' – the twelve foods we should all eat every day to stay in the best of health.
With emphasis on individual family health history and acknowledging that everyone needs something different, Dr Michael Greger offers practical dietary advice to help you live longer, healthier lives.

Furthermore, he discusses how some national guidelines and recommendations have been watered down by the institutions promoting them. Preferring to offer a much hardened truth to his readers, with the opinion that once you're aware of these truths the power to carry them through is now within your hands, rather than being given a softened version based on what these institutions believe people are capable of accepting/achieving.
However, he does not obsess on these aspects, instead he looks at how people can help themselves in such a way that they don't need to throw an endless stream of money into pursuing the perfect solution - the "Silver Bullet" if you will.
The information and guidance offered in this book gives the reader a chance to choose an array of foods suited to the ways of eating they may already be familiar with, yet still encouraging further experimentation and branching out into habits of eating which they may not yet be comfortable with but are just as easy, convenient and beneficial.
I will be referring back to How Not to Die in the years to come, I'm sure. There's so much packed into its pages that as soon as I reached the end I was flicking back through to select the gems that I can start to integrate into the foods I already eat...Great Book...Highly recommend for those who are enthusiastic about nutrition and eating for their own good health.
A Library of Healthful eating
