About this listen
Anthony Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave, chief superintendent for New Scotland Yard, never married - no children, no pets, no hobbies, and not even an interesting vice - will turn 60 in three weeks. With the exception of his chosen career, too sordid for his blue-blooded family to condone, his life has been safe and predictable. But then he meets Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield - beautiful, willful, and nearly half his age.
When Hetheridge saves the outspoken, impetuous young detective from getting the sack, siding with her against Scotland Yard's powerful male hierarchy, his cold, elegantly balanced world spins out of control. Summoned to London's fashionable Belgravia to investigate the brutal murder of a financier, Hetheridge must catch the killer while coping with his growing attraction to Kate, the reappearance of an old flame, and the secret that emerges from his own past.
Fall in love with Ice Blue, book one in the New York Times best-selling Lord & Lady Hetheridge mystery series.

A New Favorite Series
I love this series. Fun and interesting characters with enough grit, romance and suspense to keep you listening into the night. If you like the Ishmael Jones series you'll like this one too. Great narration.

Murder should not be this much fun
Although this book is about murder it has a fun element, not surprising when a Baron who is also a Police Chief Superintendent picks as his team members a working class South London girl and an Asian lad from the East of London. Examining crimes among the privileged this combination is bound to be disconcerting when none of them are respecters of class or wealth.
Jameson tells a good crime story in which you want to know the outcome and Lloyd Davies bring to life Tony, Kate and Paul, as well as the characters you want to boo and hiss at.
There are several subplots needing to be developed as the series goes on but they would spoil in the telling.
I am ready for book number two.

Cannot bear unconvincing accents.
The accents were unconvincing which made me terminate before ending. Plot pretty formulaic and mundane.

Got me hooked
I cannot wait to download the second in series, love the style, the humour, excellent narration… onto no 2 now. Had a quick peek: only 6 in series… hope Emma Jameson is a quick writer?

Enjoyable
This is a new author for me, having chosen the book because the reader, MLD, is so good. That said, his accent for Kate was horrible, but that could just be me being picky. A few Americanisms jarred: an upper class man of Anthony’s age would have shoes made by Lobb’s, if he had oodles of money, Church’s or Crockett & Jones if not. He wouldn’t wear Italian shoes. Nor would he keep drinks on a “liquor cart”, a tray on a side table would be more appropriate. Despite these niggles, I enjoyed the story, the narration and liked the characters. I am looking forward to the next in the series, not least to see how long it takes Anthony and Kate to get together.
