Summary

Sergei Andronikov was a child when the Mafia wiped out his family, leaving him with nothing but a hunger for revenge. Years later, through ruthless strategy and tireless patience, he's a contract killer working for the three families ruling Cape Swan...and he's nearly in position to bring them all down from the inside.

Domenico "Dom" Maisano is Mafia royalty, a made man...and a hitman. He's caught up in a violent life he can't escape, struggling to maintain an image he doesn't want, and suppressing desires he can't have.

A chance encounter throws the killers into each other's paths. Though Dom knows he's playing a dangerous game, he's intrigued and keeps coming back. Sergei can't resist him either - Dom is everything he set out to destroy, but he's also everything he's ever ached for in a man.

Then Sergei gets the contract he's been waiting for - the hit that promises to bring the town's Mafia to its knees.

But when a boss makes an unexpected move, Sergei must choose between dropping the hammer on the families he vowed to annihilate, and protecting the man he swore he wouldn't love.

And the wrong choice - or even the right one - will destroy them both.

Superb narration

Great story elevated by a captivating narration. I was hooked on this, it really drew me in. The narration is one of THE best I’ve listened to. Michael did a sterling job voicing all of the characters so distinctly and with accents. I loved everything about this audiobook. Highly recommend

Wow! The best Mafia m/m story I have ever read!

This is the first time I have taken the time to write a review after listening to about 200+ audiobooks but I felt this book deserved recognition.
Sergei and Dom, both forced into a world and life they never wanted, brought together by the violence of that world.
Damaged by what the mafia has done to their family and lives they come together and despite their relationship being primarily just for sex at first it develops into a wonderful emotional connection.
Emotional is also how I became on a couple of occasions in this book, unashamedly crying during the scene with Dom and his cousin on the beach.
I also have to give 5* to the narrator who I have to say made this audiobook the success it is. He was perfect! He switches between Georgian and various American character accents effortlessly and seamlessly.

Wow! This is fabulous.

If anyone had ever told me that I would ever, in this lifetime, be spellbound by a story surrounding the Mafia I’d have laughed. I normally steer well clear of this kind of premise but having been persuaded by many positive reviews I caved and was delighted and also totally, and utterly captivated.

The two main characters are so real - flawed and violent, but each in their way brings out the absolute best in the other; both have a soft gooey centre that’s revealed by a spine tingling, toe curling first time love.

It’s the kind of story that has you up into the wee hours, not wanting to know what happens next but unable to sleep until you do. I LOVED it, absolutely LOVED it!

I’m going to have to listen again and again as there’s so much to get your head around that I ended up concentrating on the MC’s and getting them straight in my head. Now I need to re-listen to sort out the many, many secondary characters. It’ll be no hardship.

And that brings me to the narrator. Michael Ferraiuolo does a fantastic job with what must have been a huge challenge. Apart from having a husky, sexy voice he’s also one of the most versatile performers I’ve ever encountered. The cast of characters is enormous and their accents, ages etc, extensive. But MF gives a phenomenal performance, he kept me riveted for hours on end. A standing ovation to both the author and her narrator. Highly recommended.

One of my all-time favourites!

I don't even know where to begin to be honest. I'm not really a fan of mafia stories and yet this is definitely one of the top books I've ever read. It's so engaging with real, perfectly flawed, human and interesting real characters. I loved how different they were, their backgrounds, their cultures and yet they fell in love. The way it happened was realistically paced and at times their lives were tumultuous but I couldn't stop listening and would recommend to any male romance fans looking for a gritty plot and engaging read. And as for the narrator...well, one of the best. The characters all had their own tone and the accents were so on point. He brought such emotion to the main protagonists without being over the top and unlike a lot of m/m readers his tone changed to fit the mood, it wasn't the same tone for sex as it was for an action scene for example. He gave a flawless performance and I'm definitely going to look for more of his work. I had the worst week at work and listening to this story on my hellish commute saved me. I will listen to this book again and again.

A better than average romantic thriller

I enjoyed the reading even more than the story. The story is too flawed to be acceptable to anyone you likes to analyse a plot, but it is entertaining.
What I didn't understand; all the characters are American. They may be Italian- American or Russian- American etc. but the reader has gifted them all with heavy foreign accents.

Enjoyable listen

I enjoyed listening to this. I’ve not got much from this author before because of mixed reviews, but might give their books more of a go following this one as it was good.

Intense

Fabulously narrated intense action drama. Fantastic MCs interact in well written high octane thriller/romance. One of the very best in this genre.

EXCELLENT
