Gripping stuff
I was totally absorbed in the story, and felt I had learned a lot about Afghanistan and the conditions in which the tribesmen live. Fascinating as well as horrifying and educational

Bit of a pot boiler
Seymour is skilled at using contemporary conflicts as settings for his stories and characters and I have always enjoyed his novels. Maybe I’m just too familiar with them now but this time I found the cadence, the characters and the plot a tad tired.
