Summary

A Sunday Times best seller.

The 12th hair-raising Dirk Pitt thriller, which sees the adventurer hunt for a fabulous hoard of Inca gold before the richest prize known to man is lost forever.

A call for help from a stricken archaeological expedition brings Dirk Pitt to a sacred well high in the Andes. There he confronts a band of ruthless art thieves who plunder ancient sites for their precious artefacts.

But soon Dirk Pitt faces even graver danger, as he searches for a lost Spanish galleon and hunts for a fabulous hoard of Inca gold. And in a desperate race against time, Pitt must track down a sacred site - before the richest prize known to man is lost to the world forever....

Strange narration

Somtimes a different voice narrates parts, it's very perturbing and doesn't match the rest told.

Of it's time, so don't buy unless you can cope

You have to except that when these were written it was a sexist, jingoistic world of stereotypes.

The story rolls along with the bravo we love. Good guys triumph, all be it with some struggle. Adventure in a tin

Enjoyable

I enjoyed it but continual conversions of metric to imperial was irritating to listen to each time.

Spoiled

Great story. Well narrated ruined by the constant need to convert metres to feet. Miles to kms etc. if you are that thick you need the conversion read or listen to kids books. Whoever decided to put the conversations in so so many times in my book is totally inept

Shame about the Editing.

A good story, totally immersing.
Although the poor editing of the audio and adding verbal text as if other narrative was wrong, made for an irritating listen. As to the thought that anyone actually cares if it’s meters or feet. Just Choose one snd stick with it.
We don’t care.

Sound quality is not consistent

Scott Brick does his usual solid delivery but whoever was in charge of recording did him and the book no favours.
The narration has been patched, badly. The levels are all over the place and stand out like a sore thumb. Really detracts from the listening pleasure.
All the other books prior to this in the Dirk Pitt series seem fine.
