About this listen
Meddling gods. A magical card system. An apocalypse no one could have predicted.
Jake is working at the neighborhood market under his apartment when the world ends. He expected nuclear war, a computer virus, or even climate change burning everyone to a crisp to bring about the downfall of civilization. But cruel and arbitrary gods from another world? Who would have guessed that?
When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. And suddenly, everyone has access to a new, strange magical card system that gives them magical powers.
Jake, wasting his day slacking off in the cooler, as he usually did, found himself alone in a completely new and very dangerous world. Can he learn to survive? Can he collect enough cards and create a good enough deck to fight back against the monsters that have overtaken his former home? And why are these strange people that look a lot like elves knocking on the door of the market he is hiding in and asking to buy some of his goods?
The gods may have stacked the deck against him, but Jake just might have a few cards up his sleeve that will help him survive.

Very Good
The narrator exaggerated voice is kinda cute. The story is very solid, it is moving and have substance. Progress are explained just enough without dominating the entire book. The MC, like most title on litrpg is not mature. There's no adult conversation in this book, and his approach on most thing are rather whimsical. But compared to the rest litrpg on this platform, i can safely say this is one of the best of its genre. Worth, every, penny.

A new take on Litrpg
Honestly, I throughly enjoyed this book. Without any spoilers, the two halves of this book were incredibly different, but I enjoyed each half.
And the ending was a shock. I can’t really have no idea where the book will go from here!

Excellent read
I really enjoyed the story and look forward to getting the next one.
The story itself is both different and similar to others I've read, as in many have the dumped in a strange world/world is changed around you and you have to survive. This has this and cards. I've never got in to card based games and I was worried that would ruin the book for me but no, I really enjoyed it.

Quite enjoyable
I picked this one a while ago. Took me a bit of time to get into it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The worldbuilding is fascinating, and the main character can be a bit of an idiot, which was immensely enjoyable.

Fantastically entertaining fun
It’s not Asimov, it isn’t meant to be.
What it is, is a brilliant fun romp through a fairly original take on the Litrpg genre, that keeps moving along nicely. As each phase of the book ended, I was frustrated that the MC had moved on, only to become engrossed in the developing storyline again, definitely the sign of a good author. This book travels much further than the blurb indicates and still leaves you wanting more, can’t wait for another instalment 10/10

Fantastic book, so much more than I thought
Fantastic, really enjoyed the first part of the book but I was slightly confused how it was going to go on for so much longer. The second part was really great, big change of pace but really enjoyed the fact that Jake kept on growing and pushing. A bit stand out of his character is that, while he's not a genius or anything, he never makes any really stupid decisions that annoyed me. Things happened to him, and the plot wasn't advanced by dumb decisions like in other books.
Stellar performance by Travis Baldree, as always, his narration always hits the spot!
