About this listen

From Wall Street Journal best-selling author Devney Perry comes a small town, fake relationship romance.

Eloise Eden’s pride and joy is her family’s hotel in Quincy, Montana. Her lifelong dream is to own The Eloise Inn. All she has to do is prove to her parents that she’s the epitome of responsible. That her days of being duped and making reckless decisions are history. She’s so close she can taste it.

Until after one weekend in Las Vegas, she comes home married to a stranger.

Jasper must have put her under a spell with those soul-deep eyes because after a single night together, they woke up husband and wife. Her only hope is to keep this marriage a secret until it’s annulled. Then she’ll pretend it never happened.

Except Jasper begs her to stay married. To fake it for three months so she can accompany him to a wedding. Maybe she’s lost her mind to agree. But her brooding husband seems desperate. It’s only three months, right? Then she’ll say goodbye to Jasper Vale, and with any luck, hello to her new hotel.

Enjoyed the story

I’ve listened to the series and enjoyed all the books, but the narrators left something to be desired. The female narrator’s ‘male’ voice was worse than my impression of my husband and bore no relation to the male narrators tone at all.
I was able to overlook the cringes mostly and enjoy the story.

This was my favourite Marriage of Convenience book I’ve read!

Okay I loved Indigo Ridge so much I didn’t think any of the others would beat it, but oh my goodness Jasper Vale is right up there with it! I didn’t expect to love this book so much!

In the previous books I wasn’t a huge fan of Eloise. I thought her book might be a little boring because I only saw the hotel manager side of Eloise. I wasn’t expecting the hilarious, witty, girl boss Eloise that I absolutely adored in Jasper Vale! I loved her so much that I actually got a bit annoyed at some of the other Edens for not believing in her!

My heart really hurt for Jasper. He was so standoffish and had 10ft walls built up around his heart. I hated his ex and his family for how they treated him but I really loved how Eloise tried to show him he deserved love 🥹

This was my favourite Marriage of Convenience book I’ve read! It was real, emotional and so funny, and of course I loved the Grumpy X Sunshine aspect of it too!

Tropes:
- Small Town Romance
- Dual POV
- Grumpy X Sunshine
- Marriage of Convenience
- Found Family
- Forced Proximity

Good addition to this series

Enjoyed it but found it hard to connect to the male narrator. He sounded too old for the character even though he did a good job.

Awful narration

Narrators both let this story down. They really took me out of the story. The female narrator's male voice sounds like eeyore, and the male sounds too old for the part and Over. Emphasises. Every. Word.

I loved reading this book

I really loved this book when reading the series however I really couldn't get into the narration at all. The male narrator was nothing like described and sounded like a posh grandfather rather than a raspy male ufc trainer.

Good characters

Nicely paced story. Enjoyable characters. Standalone story but nice to overlap with others stories in the series

Good but...

Book 4 in the Edens Series follows Eloise & Jasper who got drunk in Vegas and woke up hitched. Eloise is desperate not to disappoint her family or seem like she is irresponsible after an incident a few years ago stopped her from inheriting the family hotel so she wants to try and have the marriage annulled before anyone finds out. Jasper has a toxic ex who has invited him to her wedding and doesn't want to go solo so once he let's slip to Eloise's siblings about their marriage they decide to "fake it" so she can save face & get the hotel and she will be his plus one to the ex's wedding.

Now there are parts of this book I like and enjoyed but there are also parts that infuriated me. Both Eloise & Jasper suck at communication unless it's with their bodies, there were times this book needed them to have a meaningful conversation to move the plot forward and instead they just banged it out and glossed over the glaring issues.
Eloise was trying to prove herself responsible enough for the family business but kept avoiding/sticking her head in the sand about everything and that became tedious. Jasper was just as bad with his lack of communication skills and instead of acting like a sulking child should have voiced his thoughts and feelings. I thought both of them were equally right and wrong at certain moments, I liked getting glimpses of the rest of the Edens and I'm SO glad this wasn't the love triangle trope I feared it might be after the end of book 3. I liked the action towards the end of the book and I enjoyed the epilogues as always. Lucy Rivers was spectacular as always and this was my first audiobook with Lance Greenfield narrating and I really enjoyed his performance. Overall a good addition to the series and I enjoyed it as much the second time round as I did the first. This marks the last of my rereads of this series as books 5 & 6 I haven't read at all yet so I can't wait to dive in. 🌶🌶.5

The Narration is Terrible

I’m really enjoying the Eden series by Devney Perry. I’m making my way through them all in order. This one was a real struggle for me though - not because of the story (which I liked a lot) but because of the narration. The male narrator sounds like he’s in his 50s rather than in his late 20s or early 30s like the MMC. He doesn’t have the low gravelly voice described in the book. Instead he’s too well spoken and ‘careful’ and he pronounces some words incorrectly including a characters name which is very grating. The female narrator is fine but she’s let down by the terrible performance from the male. Spoiler my enjoyment of the book.
