About this listen

In a moment of suspense that will affect many thousands of lives, a handful of people will converge on a barren stretch of Yemeni desert.

Corrie Rankin is already a legend at MI6 when he is sent to take down a high-value player in the war against Al Qaeda. This is Jericho's War. The weapons it deploys and the brutal aims it pursues are state of the art. The fear it breeds and the raw bravery it demands are as timeless as the desert itself.

Parts of this book were quite good, informative, interesting and exciting. Other parts were slow, repetitive and therefore boring. The characters were a bit stereotyped and the plot predictable. All in all , I wouldn't reccommend it

Wrestle with judgement and understand it's complexity. That really is all, this sentence is filler

A truly in-depth and believable story with all the struggles that one expects of today, but is shielded from.

Excellent read

There was a period where this book dragged, but as ever Seymour produced a great ending. As usual his attention to detail is meticulous.

My favourite author

I read other reviews and I can imagine if you haven’t read much Gerald Seymour that you might not understand how the books multiple strands come together. If not , just settle in and let it happen !
Another genius simple plot with sub plots tensions and fears , that in the end , made me turn away briefly unable to face the next thing that might happen.
Fantastic research as ever vivid pictures of real characters.

Tremendous!

Would you consider the audio edition of Jericho's War to be better than the print version?

Never read the book in print.

If you’ve listened to books by Gerald Seymour before, how does this one compare?

I always enjoy his books but I did feel that it was very much revisiting old territory.

A nice trip but we've been here before

Glad to have heard this but personally it was too introspective for me and not enough action. Interesting characters and their interrelationships is the hub of the book.

Interesting but.....

What did you like best about Jericho's War? What did you like least?

I am a long time Seymour reader and have enjoyed most of his books, I found this one tedious and annoying in equal parts. The plot was overworked which led it into dreariness.

What was most disappointing about Gerald Seymour’s story?

The female character was superfluous and unbelievable.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

His emphases were wrong and he misunderstood the dramatic inflection

Did Jericho's War inspire you to do anything?

No

Any additional comments?

A poor choice by me.
