Summary

What’s in a label? Are we the product of our upbringing or do we have a natural propensity towards good or evil? The eternal question of nature vs nurture is at the centre of Dr Diane Buckley’s world. A talented freelance forensic psychologist who has never quite found the key to engaging with people on a casual level, she is drafted in to examine a grisly murder – a body found in a children’s playground.

The murder carries all hallmarks of one of her most famous incarcerated clients, ‘The Playground Killer’ (aka Alfred Dinklage) – namely the location of the body and the tongue being ‘forked’ like a snake with scissors. Buckley has a race against time to unpick the facts and delve into Dinklage’s often manipulative, complicated mind to understand his past to understand the present events – whilst striving to prevent further murders...as someone out there will stop at nothing to complete what they see as Dinklage’s work.

Featuring: Kathryn Anderson, Shaun Aylward, Rob James, Collier, Angela Griffin, Lara Hutchinson, Christopher John-Slater, Katherine Kelly, Simon Kent, Damian Lynch, Will Mellor, Gray O'Brien, Bhasker Patel, Jeremy Swift and Tom Turgoose.

Great story and well performed

An excellent storyline that kept me listening intently. Well performed. Only slight criticism is that the music got a tad annoying half way through. A bit of variety wouldn't have gone unappreciated.

Story was fascinating, accents awful

The story was brilliant and really went along at a pace that hooked me, but the Geordie accents on some of the actors were horrendous. I almost had to stop listening, it shows how much I enjoyed the story itself that I managed to push through

Meh!!

A mixed bag. Interesting story up to a point, but the characters are all pretty unlikeable and the voice actors frequently sound like they were in different rooms to reach other when recording their parts. The narrative is, bizarrely, constantly interspersed with nursery rhymes recited by the oompah-loompahs from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the 1971 film). The story is also spoiled by the very clumsy, desperate, and frankly excruciating efforts of the DI to constantly get his leg over with either of the shrinks involved. It gets in the way of the story, is completely unnecessary and highly irritating. For a really good police procedural dramatisation I suggest you instead try 'Stone' - infinitely better than this.

Psychologist with zero psychological insight

The most un-insightful psychologist who can't see the bleeding obvious even in her own personal life with the most unappealing personality. Unlikely police procedures and her rookie probationer able to spot what she couldn't.

Good story

Enjoyed the story and the number of cast
Just one thing , it would have been much better presented without the music , broke the momentum

Good story, but oh the interruptions

This is very well acted and the story quite exciting, but the bursts of background music and the treatment as a serial with announcements about the next chapter are really irritating.
