About this listen

A nail-biting story of courage, bravery, rebellion and war from the master of adventure fiction.

The war is over; Hitler is dead - and yet his evil legacy lives on. Saffron Courtney and her beloved husband, Gerhard, only just survived the brutal conflict, but Gerhard's Nazi-supporting brother, Konrad, is still free and determined to regain power. As a dangerous game of cat and mouse develops, a plot against the couple begins to stir. One that will have ramifications throughout Europe....

Further afield in Kenya, the last outcrop of the colonial empire is feeling the stirrings of rebellion. As the situation becomes violent, and the Courtney family home is under threat, Leon Courtney finds himself caught between two powerful sides - and a battle for the freedom of a country.

Another Saffron Courtney adventure to devour

I was so thrilled to see this book available in my library.
A fantastic addition to the Saffron and Gerhart adventure with twists and turns at every corner. As you listening you think oh this must be again but once again another adventure commences.
Cannot recommended this book more highly

A great listen.

The descriptive writing transported me back to two wonderful sea and safari holidays my wife and I enjoyed many years ago. The historical storylines and insights into the beauty and foolishness of human behaviours , made this so much more than a breathtaking adventure story. Brilliantly narrated.

Legacy

Narrated beautifully, the story had a great start and finish but dragged half way through to a predictable ending

Exciting, emotive

Took me a while to get uses to the narrator but this didn't spoil the book. Wilbur Smith is one of my favourite authors and this book didn't let him down. Great storyline and easy to follow. Missed a few hours sleep as was so exciting in pllaces I couldn't put it down. Or turn it off I suppose.

Gripped

the story kept me gripped throughout. The performance was excellent!

after the initial scenes, I struggled to see where the story was going but the link-up between scenes was I. point.

Great to see Wilbur Smith is still at the top of his game and the Saffron Courtney storyline continues to capture the imagination.
