About this listen

A Great War is coming, and it will engulf the Imperium of Man. The Space Marines of the Alpha Legion, the last and most secretive of all the Astartes brotherhoods, arrive on a heathen world to support the Imperial Army in a pacification campaign against strange and uncanny forces. But what drives the Alpha Legion? Can they be trusted, and what side will they choose when the Great War begins? Loyalties are put to the test, and the cunning schemes of an alien intelligence revealed, as the fate of mankind hangs in the balance.

incredible narrative, really opens up the reasoning behind the current 40k universe. Dan Abnett is without a doubt the best writer the Black Library has

I have never felt the need to write a review before having listened to dozens of audible renditions but this book is truly amazing. The story and the performance is simply outstanding. Without giving much away, Legion offers an intriguing insight into the Alpha legion and their position within the Imperium. This book is a Must Have within the Horus Heresy collection.

I love thw alpha legion this book gives a great view of them from the side of the common soldier. It also gives a great view of differences between the Primarch's.

A great book, great reading.

Loved the twist that the alpha legion have no choice but to side with horus and let the emperor die to save mankind. I wonder if they will ever show their true loyalty in the future lore or if the emperor knows this

The story is a little slow to get going and, having read all previous Horus Heresy books which are centred around Astartes, feels a bit odd at first. Nonetheless, once you get into the second and third chapters, it starts to become addictive and even by the end you wonder if the long awaited twist has happened or if the Astartes are just following their own destiny. Battle scenes and action sequences are blistering and the most mysterious of the Astartes Legions earn their reputation as mysteries.

Slow to get going but a blistering story
