About this listen
Shortlisted for best audiobook in the Specsavers National Book Awards 2018.
I seen a kid killed.... He strangled it, up by the horse.
When Billy, a troubled young man, comes to private eye Cormoran Strike's office to ask for his help investigating a crime he thinks he witnessed as a child, Strike is left deeply unsettled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. But before Strike can question him further, Billy bolts from his office in a panic.
Trying to get to the bottom of Billy's story, Strike and Robin Ellacott - once his assistant, now a partner in the agency - set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside.
And during this labyrinthine investigation, Strike's own life is far from straightforward: his newfound fame as a private eye means he can no longer operate behind the scenes as he once did. Plus, his relationship with his former assistant is more fraught than it ever has been - Robin is now invaluable to Strike in the business, but their personal relationship is much, much more tricky than that....
The most epic Robert Galbraith novel yet, Lethal White is the gripping next instalment in the ongoing story of Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott.

Enjoyed
The characters are so real to me that I find myself talking to them as they make their decisions 'Don't do that Robin!' etc. Really enjoyable read and I found myself finding pockets of time to carve out listening some more.

Few quibbles but excellent overall
Excellent storytelling from 'Robert Galbraith', as ever. It's a nice convoluted tale with plenty of characters and the odd red herring. I wasn't overly surprised by the reveal but it was satisfying nonetheless. The only quibble with the story was revelation about the Minister's dodgy business, which seemed a bit silly. The narration was excellent apart from Mr Glenister's Scottish accent which was pretty awful. I'm also confused by Strike's broad Cornish accent - wasn't he brought up in London? He sounded a bit like Hagrid mixed with Neil Carter from the Archers. Got used to it though and it was a small price to pay for an other excellent narration.

Strike series is awesome & Robert Glenister MAKES the audiobook as incredible as it is
Without Robert Glenister the audiobook would not be anywhere near as good as it is. The voices which are so full of character enrich the already brilliant story. I’ve listened to this book 3 times now because I love it so much.
Like the Potter series, the Strike series is primarily about relationships and this is set against the backdrop of world they exist in. It’s one of the many reasons that I cannot say how much I love these stories. However, the voice of Robert Galbraith is very much a male one and it’s incredibly enlightening to listen from this perspective.
I also really value that the references used for songs and quotations from other books are acknowledged.
Sterling work!
The only problem is that I have to wait for the next one .......
