About this listen

Flint Hopkins finds the perfect tenant to rent the space above his Minneapolis-based law office.

All the t's are crossed and i's dotted on Ellen's application. Her references are good. And she's easy on the eyes.

Until...

Flint discovers Ellen Rodgers, Board-Certified Music Therapist, plays music. Bongos, guitars, singing - not Beethoven administered through noise-cancelling headphones.

The cut-throat attorney serves up an eviction notice to the bubbly, constantly humming redhead who's too sexy for her own good. But luck is on Ellen's side when Flint's autistic son, Harrison, takes an instant liking to her. A single dad can't compete with guitars - and rats. Yes, she has pet rats.

This woman...

She's annoyingly happy with a constant need to touch him-adjust his tie, button his shirt, invade his space, and mess with his mind.

Still...

She must go.

Their lust-hate relationship escalates into something beautiful and tragic. This sexy, romantic-comedy explores the things we want, the things we need, and the impossible decisions parents and children make to survive.

Contains mature themes.

I just love this author. I haven’t read any of her books before but I adore her style of writing. Simply superb. The narration was epic by Stephanie and Troy if only other narrators were as good.

Fantastic!

I love this book so much and this audio has been absolutely fabulous! Stephanie Rose and Troy Duran captured, perfectly, the humour, the sadness, the turmoil, the banter, the sheer beauty of a story that captures your heart. There were times when tears threatened, when I laughed aloud, when I fell further in love with Elle, Flint and Harrison. A master class in story telling and in narration 💖💖💖💖💖

Stunningly beautiful! 😍

From the cover (which is good), I thought this book was going to be a fluffy romance, and although it has elements of the usual satisfying trope, it intentionally tackles issues that are going to cause many readers conflict. The book opens with the hero being a drunk driver, and continues on with him living with his choices. My empathy is limited because I think drink driving is abhorrent, but it’s interesting that the author intentionally tackled this situation. At least the author doesn’t try to excuse it and characters accept that it’s unforgivable.

It’s well written, and still has the satisfying fluff that you want from a romance book, but it’s mixed in with characters that have more depth and situations and consequences intended to make the reader think.

I’ve capped it at 4 stars because I just can’t feel enough empathy with a drunk driver to truly get into the story. It’s well written and enjoyable, though, so giving it less than 4 would be doing it a disservice. I’m interested in hearing more from this author.

Good - not a fluffy book

I did read this book years ago and enjoyed it. So when it came up as a free audio I downloaded it. As with all Jewel’s books this wasn’t your standard romance. It was complicated and beautiful and had me laughing out loud in parts and shedding tears in others. I think I actually enjoyed the audio more than I did the book. Fantastic!

Laughed and cried.

This is the second book I've listened to from this author. Absolutely brilliant storyline. Loved that the main characters didn't change themselves to be together despite their clear differences. Wonderfully narrated too. Great listen 🥰

BEAUTIFULLY CRAFTED STORY

This book is as funny as it is heartbreaking, and as sad as it is happy. With a fantastic storyline, great characters, and lots of heat and heart… Look The Part is an absolute must read/listen.
