About this listen

Over 1 million Discworld audiobooks sold – discover the extraordinary universe of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld like never before

The audiobook of Lords and Ladies is narrated by Indira Varma (Game of Thrones; Luther; This Way Up). BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.

'People didn't seem to be able to remember what it was like with the elves around. Life was certainly more interesting then, but usually because it was shorter. And it was more colourful, if you liked the colour of blood . . .'

On Midsummer Night, dreams are especially powerful. So powerful, in fact, that they can cause the walls between realities to come crashing down. And some things you really don't want to break through.

The witches Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick return home to discover that elves have invaded Lancre. And even in a world of wizards, trolls, dwarfs, Morris dancers - and the odd orangutan - they're spectacularly nasty creatures.

The fairies are back - and this time they don't just want your teeth...

'His spectacular inventiveness makes the Discworld series one of the perennial joys of modern fiction' Mail on Sunday

'Cracking dialogue, compelling illogic and unchained whimsy'
The Sunday Times

Lords and Ladies is the fourth book in the Witches series, but you can listen to the Discworld novels in any order.

The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

Great book, superbly read

If you've listened to Discworld audiobooks before, rest assured the current series being redone by Penguin is far and away the best. Indira Varma is perfect for the Witches books.

Another great adaptation

This is my favourite of the Discworld Witches books and again Indira Varma has given another perfect narration. Excellent :)

I love Discworld

The story is one of my favourites and I particularly like this reading of it, and especially that there is a different voice actor reading the footnotes

Book 4 and it only gets better

The story in itself is very good but the performance is amazing! The witches have such distinct voices and they also fit them so well!

My favourite of the Witches series

Indira Varma is fantastic, hoping she comes back to do the Tiffany aching series.

Great

I loved this book. I was worried I might not get on with it because I love elves and they’re not the good guys in Discworld! But honestly, it was very entertaining.
Indira Varma is an excellent narrator, I wish she narrated all the Pratchett books.
Highly recommended.

Brilliant!

Finally-unabridged Discworld with quality narration. Indira Varma absolutely nails all the characters, Bill Nighy is a delight among the footnotes and Death sounds exactly like…well…Death. Goes without saying the book is fabulous (it benefits from having read Wyrd Sisters and Witches Abroad) but remains my favourite of the Witches novels. Very happy!
