About this listen
A fake relationship can’t fix a broken heart...right?
I’ve been in love with my best friend, Eli, forever, and I was all set to confess my feelings...until he showed up at my birthday party with someone else. I would have died on the spot if Rome hadn’t pulled me close, kissed me, and told everyone we’d secretly been dating for months. Except we’re not boyfriends. And until that night we’d never even kissed.
When my family finds out about our supposed relationship, we have to play along. Spending time with Rome is easy and fun. And our fake kisses are hot enough to set my body on fire.
Could it be real with Rome? I don’t want to screw up our friendship, but his touch makes me want more. I waited too long before, and I can’t risk losing Rome. Not when what I feel is so much stronger than I ever expected.
So how can we make this fake relationship real? And how do we make it last forever?

Brilliant addition
A brilliant addition to the series by Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda. A great ride with Grady and Rome of personal growth and opening your eyes to what is really there. Austin Jay did a super job with the narration.

Love this series
What a mess poor Grady's love life is! He has been wanting a relationship with Eli forever, but he can't see that Eli is a real jerk who has been manipulating his emotions and stringing him along. On the night Grady finally decides to confess his feelings to Eli at a party, Eli shows up with a man he introduces as his fiance. Grady is crushed and all his friends know it because he has been lousy at hiding those feelings. Fortunately, one of his real friends is Rome who has had a crush on Grady that rivals Grady's on Eli. He steps in at Grady's lowest emotional moment, kisses him and lets everyone know they are in a relationship. News to Grady, lol, but he decides to go along. As news of the pretend relationship spreads, the two guys play along and as one expects in a friends to lovers, fake boyfriend story the fiction becomes real. I found these two characters and their friends believable and likable (other than Eli - hisss/boo) and completely bought into the development of Grady's and Rome's relationship into a real one. The angst quota is light, the two MCs belong together and the HEA arrives as expected. A very enjoyable read during this stressful time. Austin Jay gives a wonderful performance here. I read the book before listening to the audio and with his performance I noticed things I hadn't noticed when I read in terms of emotional nuances.

So emotional...
I am a huge fan of Aiden Bates so I always read any book with his name on it because I am sure I am going to love it. So, when I first read ebook I couldn't stop reading! Not just because the book is amazing and the story and the characters really well written, but what really trapped me inside the plot was the chemistry between Grady and Rome and their interactions with Eli. The way the authors managed the emotions and reactions of the characters, their friendships, relationships and romance was simply incredible, their expertise in human relationships and how to translate them to words in so wonderful love story had me crying and sighing great part of the book. I have read and reread this book so many times that hearing it also in audio was just the next step. Mr Jay made a wonderful performance translating the words of the authors into life, with his acting skills and nice voice. A very enjoyable narration! Loved it!

I love the Caldwell brothers
I'm loving this series so far. Gray has been hopelessly in love with one of his best friends, Eli for as long as he can remember but when Eli shows up with a new fiance in tow Rome steps in as a pretend boyfriend.
I loved watching the relationship between Gray and Rome grow, this is such a good best friends to lovers / fake relationship story and Eli is a great love to hate character.

Lots of communication issues
This was everything a fake boyfriend trope normally is, just doubled.
When Grady finds out his crush/best friend Ely is engaged, he's devastated. So, when his friend Rome steps in and announces their fake relationship, everyone is surprised, including Grady's family, who happens to love Rome.
Unfortunately, things between the friends all start to unravel and all of the lies get twisted and told, as feelings are hurt and betrayed.
There was just a lot of undue stress because of miscommunication.

Great triangle story
I really enjoyed this story. It’s more than a friends to. This is about three guys that have known each other a long time and while one guy is insufferable, Eli, Gray has been infatuated with him about forever. Eli is so self centered that even though he knows about Grady’s feelings he stays focused on him first always. Rome the third friend has been focused on Grady just about as long. While Rome saves Grady an embarrassing situation, it doesn’t take long for Grady and Rome to have to address what is between them. I love triangle stories where I can enjoy the ones that get together. The narrator, Austin Jay does a great job at bring these characters to life. I was given a copy from GRR and this is my opinion.

Arrrr I love this
This book, this amazing and frustrating book. I have gone through so many emotions and every second that I spent listening had just been so enjoyable. The characters have left me wanting to shake them but also cheering them on.

Characters seem much younger/less mature than ages
Overall, I liked this book and the romance between Grady and Roman. However, the characters seemed more like they were in their 20's rather than in their 30's, not mature at all, especially at the birthday party. I might expect behavior like this (manipulation, jealousy, intentionally hurting others, pettiness) from people fresh out of high school and starting college, but I would hope they'd have matured by the time they reach their 30's, especially as a corporate CEO. Also, although the culmination and changes were sweet, I had a hard time buying Eli's sudden metamorphosis. The authors did too good a job making him into a selfish prick for me to believe in the new man. Still, I loved most of the characters, especially the giving and supportive Caldwell family. Even Roman's parents, although gone, were so clearly described as loving and caring. Grady was a bit too naive and forgiving, but I loved him anyway.
The narration was good and the character voices really fit their mental and emotional feelings and ages (which again seemed much younger than their actual ages). The narrator really captured the angst and emotion.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Finally learns the truth.
Its Grady's 32nd birthday party and everybody is there, everybody but Eli!..and when he finally does arrive, he's not alone. Rome has been watching and he can tell Grady is getting upset, he's not prepared to stand by and watch it happen...so there's only one thing he can do!
Austin Jay is on top form with the narration. MM, Fake boyfriend, best friends to lovers.
