Summary

Alex is broke.

He's pretty much always been broke. A misspent youth led to mistakes that led to convictions and plea deals. No career, no education, no hope.

Now he has a chance to make things right for him and his family when the newest immersive MMO comes with the ability to convert money earned in the game into real currency. Well, it's cryptocurrency, but that's real-ish, right? Seeing an opportunity, Alex joins The Realms as Jack Alltrades, looking to make money any way he can. He may be a Master of None, but he's determined to learn every way possible to make money and turn his life around. Along the way, he'll find answers to important questions like:

  • Can he win employee of the month?
  • Do gnomes dream of electric sheep?
  • How many kobolds does it take to swing a pickaxe?
  • Can NPCs commit tax fraud?

Okay, maybe he won't answer most of those, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't come follow the high-margin adventures of Jack Alltrades!

excellent story well performed

I enjoyed this very much. it is a strong litrpg story with good clear mechanics and a strong plot. The links to the real world do not slow the story down.

Some sweet, sweet LitRPG

In an intriguing world with interesting mechanics, one man takes it upon himself to do all of the things, to do all of them right, and to look kinda dumb while doing them.

The main character seems like the kind of guy Richter (The Land) would go for a beer with, before fist fighting him and then sharing another round of beers.

The story takes care to flesh characters out, slowly, but surely, revealing new aspects of the main cast. I’m looking forwards to the rest of the series, to see where they go with it.

- Audible at this time seems to not want to stock the following two sequel books. which is very sad.

epic and incredible

this book is q must get for any rpg fan, if the genre isn't your thing then get it anyway and listen to the perfect balance of fantasy and real world feeling.

never before have I wanted to be in a game so much as this (and I read ready player one and two... both terrible compared to this)

the humor and intelligence in this story kept me hooked. I finished it so quickly because I wanted to needed to.

my only complaint is that I found i finished the book a day after I bought it so now I'm just eagerly awaiting the next one..

if this author isn't one to watch then I don't know who would be!!!

100/100

good start to a series.

the main character seem to have limitless luck. things fall into place that all align perfectly with how he wants to play. skills. traits. jobs. weapons. friends. the story builds fast. Still loved it and look forward to the next one. nick podehl is a fantastic reader and always makes me smile.

Awesome start

Fun story and pacing. All the best bits of a litrpg with a fresh perspective of wealth generation.

Plenty of combat and abilities, for anyone worrying about this being off the beaten track.

Entertaining litRPG, not without flaws

Now, this is the beginning of the series, so for a first book it hits most of the requirements. Story is decent, and a lot is still hidden which is very nice. Characters are fun, but the progression of the main character is VERY fast (feels kinda like a power fantasy). The story itself has plenty of potential to develop into somethig great.
Podehl's performance in this audiobook was strange, i enjoy his work very much, but here his narration felt forced with strange pitch choices during sentences. It does get better towards the end of the book and he starts bringing that classic Podehl narration into it which i'm very thankful for.
Overall a pretty good listen if you're bored.

headache inducing.

Nick podehl is great as usual, But the Game Notifications are pretty much constant. He will litterly say them same think 20+ time in a row.

ending in on a cliffhanger.
