About this listen
Desperate Housewives meets Murder, She Wrote in Lee Hollis' new mystery series, where a housewife and a female private eye solve murders together in their small Maine town!
Someone is trying to turn Portland High into a school for scandal with a gossipy website called Dirty Laundry. The latest target of ruinous rumors is newly elected PTA President Sandra Wallage. After a heated meeting with outraged parents, Sandra runs into fellow school mom and Private Investigator Maya Kendrick, who's discovered the person behind the website. But when the women storm into the venomous gossip columnist's office they find a lifeless body - along with a confession.
Although the police rule the death a suicide, Maya suspects an injured party hung the Dirty Laundry creator out to dry. Maya already has a PI partner - but she's pregnant, and sonograms and stakeouts tend to conflict. So when Sandra volunteers for a crash course in sleuthing, Maya accepts the help. But as these unlikely partners study the clues, a killer plans to teach them a lesson....

Drama at the school
I enjoyed this book but it seemed very long. It wasn't drawn out anything and it wasn't a case of writing words for the sake of it but every suspect they had they eliminated by the next chapter and it just didn't feel like it was getting anywhere. The story follows two ladies as they try to work who is
responsible for the malicious gossip and then who is behind the murder. This means the story does jump around, especially as both ladies has her own home life drama to add to the story but it is easy to follow. I was surprised with who the killer eventually turned out to be. The characters are likeable and I enjoyed the way they eventually come to respect each other. They are going to make an interesting team.
With a website posting gossip the whole school is turned in to find out who the next post is about. But PTA president Sandra never thought it would be about her husband's affair and right when she steps up to address the whole school. He school is her business and she sets out to find out who is responsible. Meanwhile Maya an ex cop turned private investigator is asked by her daughter to find the gossip, so the school can go back to normal and stop hurting people. Instead of finding the gossip they find a supposed suicide victim and a confession. Maya doesn't think it feels right and when the victims sisters hired her to look into the death she jumps at the chance to investigate and pay some bills. With Maya's partner out on maternity leave things go slowly until the two pair up. Can Sandra help Maya find a killer or is she just putting her life on the line.
I liked the narrator. She used some very distinctive voices to bring life to the characters, making them easy to imagine.

Easy listening
I enjoyed this. The storyline didn’t make me think too deeply but I really warmed to the characters and intend to read book 2.

Its all over the place
I didn't like it, but I was committed so I finished it. the plot is chaotic and all over the place and it took them a very long time to unravel the case and too many characters too
