The pushy wants to be detective.
A want to be detective.
After her children left their home to build their own life’s and loosing her husband for an illness a couple of years ago, Misses Agnes Lockwood decided to go on vacation to the city of her birth and childhood.
Beside the author Eileen Thornton incredible imagination and beautiful penmanship, her writing truly gives you the feeling that you exist between the pages and each of the characters feel amazingly real just like the way M. Agnes Lockwood personality just drives you crazy.
Great creation but a middle age woman shouldn’t behave like that and the police for sure are not allowed to involve civilians like in this story, also after being drugged you suppose to give blood for testing and for evidence in the trial, no question asked.
The narration by Deborah Balm was done beautifully for each of the characters in this story.

Enjoyable Cosy Crime Mystery
This is the first in a series of cosy crime mysteries featuring amateur sleuth Agnes Lockwood, who fancies herself as a bit of a Miss Marple. She is recently widowed, in her mid 50s, and lives in Kent but decides to spend a few days in Newcastle, the area she grew up in. There she becomes involved in a series of jewel thefts and then murders.
The writing has an old fashioned feel to it, but the story drew me in and I enjoyed it. Will look out for more in the series.

Enjoyed it a lot.
It's so refreshing to see slightly older characters as the main protagonists. Not only does Mrs Lockwood help to solve a crime but she finds a love interest as well. I love that she can swig back the wine and brandy too. She is a fab character. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy.

Dreadful Narrator
The story seemed quite interesting I got to chapter 12 but the narrator just got worse and worse sounded weary and as though she couldn't be bothered. Such a shame.
