A DAILY TELEGRAPH MUST-READ FOR AUTUMN 2024
Three grandfathers killed on the streets of England in three separate incidents by three different men. Each targeted simply for being Muslim - each attack a consequence of the insidious rise in Islamophobia in Britain.
From the far-right violence that broke out in the summer of 2024 to the hatred directed at Muslims in public life during the Gaza conflict, anti-Muslim racism is dangerously out-of-control. Fed by a network of media outlets, think tanks, commentators, and even the entertainment industry, Islamophobia not only passes the dinner table test but is also Britain's bigotry blind spot. For too many, Muslims Don't Matter.
In this incisive polemic, Britain's first Muslim Cabinet minister, Conservative peer, campaigner and podcaster Sayeeda Warsi uses her dual experience at the centre of British power and in the heart of our Muslim communities to unapologetically challenge the corrosive consensus. As Muslims terrified by the riots seriously consider whether Britain should still be their home, Warsi urges us to change course, to unite and dismantle this toxic bigotry.©2024 Sayeeda Warsi (P)2024 Hachette Audio UK

Powerful and Honest
I really enjoyed this book and have always seen Baroness Warsi as an inspiration in so many ways. The important issues raised in this book are key to moving forward in a Britain where Muslims do Matter!

Stark, Real and Current
Was looking forward to this book since I heard about it. Being a British Muslim born and bred in the UK, Warsi has voiced exactly what most modern Muslims are thinking and feeling about the current climate of our country. The normal everyday Muslims just want to get on with their lives yet every corner they turn they are being discriminated against, collectively punished for crimes extremist and a minority are committing. Warsi gives an account from inside the political arena, her view and same fear we British Muslims all have about not knowing how long we are welcome in the UK and for those of us who call UK home where would we go? A must read to understand how the politics of this country is creating a divide.

Important and revealing!
This book is a brilliant, well researched, evidence based account of how the UK and the much of the western world have marginalised and let down an entire community.

We are being slowly cooked like frogs in saucepans
I bought this book reluctantly, thinking it was unlikely I’d hear anything I don’t know already. Our lass from up north made me realise that slowly slowly the media have been poisoning the general publics mind about Muslims in the UK. As I write this a very sick Saudi has just killed five people in a car ramming. The man has a huge social media presence stating in black and white his hatred for Saudi Arabia and Muslims. Yet the media refuse to believe this and have spun the story against the Muslim community. We are the new Jews, we are fair game, when will the general public realise they are being played. Thank God we’ve got Brits like Baroness Warsi

Breaking the Silence: An open discourse on Islamophobia finally
Baroness Sayeeda brings to light issues that many of us ponder but often struggle to voice or openly discuss. It was refreshing to hear someone articulate the impact of Islamophobia, which is something that resonates so strongly with the lived experiences of Muslims. As a Muslim woman, I often find myself masking the hurt, projecting resilience, and telling myself that such prejudice doesn’t affect me, refusing to let it define my identity. Yet, listening to this audio reminded me that this facade, while protective, isn’t without its toll. I realise now that acknowledging the discomfort rather than dismissing it can foster both personal growth and solidarity with others facing similar challenges. I now intend to do more to tackle Islamophobia for all including my children.

Informative
It’s a good summary of the concerns of a modern day Muslim. Sets out the recent issues and solutions. Maybe one of the conclusions should also include consider adopting the recommendations in the Leveson inquiry.

Sadly, a necessary read...
A hard hitting book which should never have been necessary to write. A sad chronicle of the times in which we live

Essential listening for understanding the British Muslim community and
Incredibly well researched & laid out resulting in a compelling case. The disparity between British Muslims and everyone else is huge - Sayeeda details it brilliantly and calls us to action - highly recommended and I will be purchasing the book too!
