Summary

He’s way too young and he works for me...so why can’t I stay away?

Regan

I had no trouble saying no to Channing when he left for college two years ago. I’m two-and-a-half decades older than him, and he was just a kid.

But he’s all man now, and it’s hard to stay away. Especially when he takes a job at my tattoo shop for the summer. He’s got his whole life ahead of him. I can’t let him waste it on me.

Channing

I’m not letting Regan go this time.

I’m about to turn 21, but the only thing I want a drink of is Regan, the hot tattoo shop owner who’s my boss for the summer.

I can see desire in his eyes when I catch him looking at me. And I know my place is right beside him. Nothing has ever felt more right than sleeping in his arms.

But how can we make it work when I’m heading back to school once summer is over?

Old Ink is a M/M romance that gives you a scorching May/December romance between a young man figuring out his place in the world and a seasoned tattoo artist who knows a thing or two about love and heartbreak.

A Really Enjoyable Age Gap Romance

Old Ink is the third book in the Get Ink’d series, and although I strongly recommend reading the first two books before starting this book, Old Ink can still stand on its own. I just think the story is so much more enjoyable to know the history of the characters and to see where they’ve come from.

Channing is such a remarkable character and I’m so proud of the amount of growth he’s done. Regan was a fascinating character, and the author did a great job of mixing his strength, dominance, and experience with his vulnerability, flaws, and ignorance. These two men had to work together, while also doing their own self-reflection, before they could truly commit whole-heartedly to their relationship. This character maturity made for a great story. Plus, the sex scenes were super hot and ranged from sweet and vanilla to steamy kink.

The audiobook was narrated by Connor Brown who did a fantatastic job. He kept his character voices consistent and put a lot of energy into his performance without overdoing it and overperforming. I thought the audiobook production was also well done and really enjoyed listening to the book.

Great Old Ink

What a ride Regan and Channing’s story. Age difference stories have so much going for them. There’s a great dynamic between them. They are so hot together. I loved how the story turns revealing that Channing is the more emotionally mature one out of the two of them. It was great catching up with Dane and Chris again and all the get Ink crew. Connor Brown’s narration has a lovely tone of voice.

keep them coming

this was the story i've been waiting for. Reagan and Channing were just as amazing as i thought they would be. Can't wait for more audio to be released for this series. It would have had 5 stars but as usually there were a few glitches but honestly not as bad as some of the others.

Something special about this May/December

I’m loving the Get Ink’d series and have been patiently waiting for Regan and Channing’s book. The previous book ended with the mother of all kisses and I wondered where the relationship might go from there. Channing was barely out of high school to Regan’s forty-something. Channing needed time to mature and over the past few years that’s happened. He’s raced through his schooling but is coming home for the summer, needing to regroup. Regan offers him a job at the tattoo shop, knowing it’s a bad idea, but unable to deny Channing’s knowledge of the business would be a big asset during this time of transition.

Channing fits right in but it’s soon apparent he’s not over his crush. He wants Regan but feels he has to prove his maturity. Twenty-one to forty-seven is still a huge gap to overcome, as are Regan’s scruples. But in the end the attraction wins. The men decide to try being boyfriends and although there are some hiccups – jealous exes and psycho suitors – the men do finally find a way to make it work.

I was thrilled to see Connor Brown return as narrator for this book. He’s doing a great job with the series. There are two more books and I can’t wait. The epilogue of this book nicely sets up Matteo’s story and I’m hoping it comes out on audio soon.

Just 4*

I have always enjoyed these books and this one was shaping up to be a favourite, as I like age gap stories. Things were ticking over as I was expecting with Reagan having hangups about the age difference between him and Channing, then drama and angst hit and Reagan becomes whiny for a couple of chapters, which I found changed the whole feel of the book, although the drama was necessary, Reagan could have as an adult handled it better than he did.

The writing as always is very good, as was the character development, Listening to Connor bring them to life was great. I am really looking forward to the next in the series.

Fabulous addition

Another great story from Ali Lyda, making Get Ink'd another great series. It is such a pleasure to get Channing and Regan's story. Although it can stand on its own, it is best enjoyed in order. Connor Brown did an amazing job with the narration. Hope the wait for the next story is not too long.

Just what I had expected!

I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between Channing and Reagan in this book. The age difference was major and the blame fell on Reagan, thinking he was waiting for Channing to grow up, when he'd sat by for 3 years, stagnant.

It was a good story, totally realistic and heartwarming.

Sweet M/M age gap romance

I had not read or listened to the first two books in this series, but that did not hamper my enjoyment of this one (although it did make me want to hear more about Channing's story before he left for college.) I usually don't like age gap stories, because it often seems like the relationship is too uneven with the younger man at a disadvantage with a need to be taken care of. But here, Channing is at least as smart and capable and mature as Reagan, and I loved that he knew what he wanted. That said, I loved the way Reagan showed his cards (that he wanted Channing) when he intervened with the rich chump, Trevor (guess we'll see more of Trevor in the next book, though). The themes and relationships in this book were great, including between Channing and Reagan, Channing's brother and his husband (Dean), Channing and his brother, Channing and Dean, and all the guys at the shop. I just loved all the relationships and how they supported each other. Down to the last character, they are well-developed and easy to love. Communication is key in this story, and I hurt with Channing every time Reagan unintentionally hurt him. I was so glad when Reagan finally figured himself out and decided what he wanted. Oh, and this story is sexy, too. So seriously hot between Channing and Reagan!

The narration was good. I thought the delivery and pacing were perfect.

Old Ink - enjoyed

I enjoyed this audiobook. It didn’t grab me quite as much as the last one, so it was harder to overlook the narration flaws. I tried speeding up, which helped last time, but I’ll just have to note Connor Brown isn’t on my favorites list. That said, it doesn’t mean he did a horrible job. I’m sure others love him. I was excited for these guys, and for the most part, was happy with their story. It felt a little too hard with extra unnecessary drama. I would’ve liked more time with them together and happy before more issues, especially after they had to work so hard in the first place.
