About this listen
Russia is playing mind games...They've changed the rules.
Can 280 characters destroy a nation?
Avery Goodyear, a romance editor from the suburbs, becomes a player in an international game of psychological warfare.
The FBI watches the attacks unfold in real time. The enemy's strategy: win hearts and minds to destroy American unity. The FBI focuses its secret weapon, ex-Army Ranger Rowan Kennedy, at the crisis.
With a PhD in propaganda, Kennedy puts everything on the line to expose the wealthy oligarchs and high-powered schemers threatening our way of life...and to protect Avery.
To beat the enemy at their own game, Rowan and Avery must break the rules. It only complicates things that they're falling in love.
The game is on. The set is in play. Who will win the match?
©2019 Fiona Quinn (P)2020 TantorAs always, Fiona Quinn has produced interesting characters with real life issues going on alongside the main thrust of the book. Avery and Rowan are both individuals that you care about and root for.
The narrator does an excellent job producing distinctive and appropriate voices for each of the characters. I would happily listen to him performing other books. There was just one word which really grated on my ears . . . but maybe Americans do pronounce the name ‘Margot’ as ‘Margotte’?
Scary topic but a great story

I had this one in my TBR for a while but hadn’t expected it to be so captivating. Had I read it though after it was published, I’d logged that under interesting, bit technical, bit sci fi vibe.
Reading it now it hits hard into reality evolving, what was conspiracy and possible future threats have become much more based on real events and theories, too close to what could happen. Avery was right to have been terrified by 1984. I had the same experience when I read it first in the 80s and still never believed it could become part reality and a constant reminder to beware the signs what can happen if we underestimate the dangers.
It’s not a doomsday book though, it’s highly entertaining in keeping the reader on the edge or their seat.
This is a step up from the usual stories
