Amber Bray did a good job telling us about all of Mariana’s suitors.

Mafia romance

I normally really enjoy mafia romances but this one wasn't quite what I expected. I think the writing isn't really my style. That being said the storyline was interesting and the characters were well developed.

I wasn't a huge fan of the way Amber narrated this book. She always sounded angry even during scenes that didn't call for anger. It just threw the dynamic of the book way off for me.

A Dedicated Men

A good mafia romance starter. It could have more background on their relationship before she disappeared. I wanted a feel of his feelings before he found her. I loved how he never gave up on her even after she returned and wanted to make sure he was the one.

Promised

Well, it's sure not an easy life being a leader in the mob! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. It was intense and gripping. Mariana was such a strong character especially considering everything she had gone through. Ion sounded like he was going to be this horrible person but he turned out to be an alpha male who would do whatever it took to protect those he loved. I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of this series. Amber Bray's performance of this story was amazing. She put so much into each and every character. Her male voices and various accents and languages was wonderfully done.

Dark but fascinating

The story was very engrossing but it has a lot of rough scenes and dark triggers. I was worried she would be in one bad situation after another but she ended up finding a way. I was amazed at her spirit. The narrator did a great job.

Interesting

You kind of get thrown into this mafia world that the author has built, at first I was a little confused but as the story unfolds the world is well built and enjoyable. The narrator did a fantastic job

Stand alone start to series

Promised does stand alone, though it ends with more of a HFN, like an episode in a series where the immediate threat is wrapped up but you know the story isn't entirely over. I would recommend this book to those who are fans of mafia/mob romance.

The story does include details of abuse, and I did struggle a little bit with how someone could have one set of values for their family yet still be okay with buying/selling women who weren't related to them. I actually wasn't sure if Ion would end up being one of the protagonists as he didn't make a great first impression (and it would be cool to have another perspective thrown in to keep the reader guessing).

Amber Bray did a great job with the narration. She does really well performing the dual points of view by herself, probably the best narrator I've listened to with handling both perspectives on her own. My only complaint is that there were occasional times where the intensity seemed a little over done.

Great storyline

Wow this poor woman has the worst luck! Great storyline with good strong characters. Looking forward to the next book. Great narration from Amber.

I've seen this book/author pop up a few times in a few of my facebook groups. The cover and blurb intrigued me. I wanted to give it a shot to this new to me author. Sadly, I felt this book needed more plot development in the beginning. We get thrown into this "Clan world," basically told instead of shown. Or it seemed it could be a skim forward plot. Things were moving way to fast for me and it took the enjoyment out of the characters and story. Also was kind of predicable. A lot of things were very repetitive and Ion kept on mentioning the same thing over and over. I just think this book need more time worked on it.

Ohhh, I really liked Amber Bray's narration, her male voice is also good. She did well with the accents.
