Dark Fantasy done right.
The story was an interesting take on the coming of age genre. While most focus on learning, growth and adventure, this story focused on corruption. And oh, was it a blast. The author managed to introduce us to the mcs and then have them organically change each other in the most subtle of ways. While some tropes where "cliche'd" to an extent, I got to admit the author remained tactful in how he presented them which at least to me made them enjoyable.
Narration-wise, I got a nice surprise. It reminded me of why voice acting is actually called as such. Unlike many "cold" narrators, this one placed emotion when interpreting the characters, which is a nice change in the audiobooks I've listened to.
Will definitely pick the next book once it gets its audiobook release.
