About this listen

A Bull River Blues spinoff that begs the question: What are you really investing in?

In the shady world of investing, Kyle Carlisle finds himself in a rather mundane spot of mostly dealing with newbies who like to break the rules. That's all about to change when the job of his dreams comes his way.

GenX, a biotech firm that specializes in virus and vaccine research, also mines its own cryptocurrency RedKoin. Amy Pandemos is its young and beautiful CEO, who tracks down Kyle to have him run the crypto operation.

What could possibly go wrong? Well, the job comes with two strings attached - the FBI and a US Shadow Ops agency known as DARK. Both agencies believe that something more sinister in happening behind the doors of GenX and that Amy Pandemos is much more than meets the average eye.

Kyle's life is about to be turned upside down as he unwillingly gets involved in their operation to take down GenX. RedKoin will take you on a mysterious thrill ride filled with deception, intrigue, and even a bit of mythology. After all, the most lucrative investments hold the oldest secrets!

"You have to trust your agent."

What to say? Not an easy review to write because, although not a complex plot in and of itself, the way it is presented makes it far more than a simple story. So firstly, let me say that I enjoyed this book immensely despite being a total illiterate where cryptocurrency and financial trading is concerned. It didn't mater. There was very much the feeling of an old fashioned noir thriller here, but also mythology, romancy, FBI, and lots and lots of action. Told mostly in the first person but from several alternating perspectives, time itself becomes slippery. And the ending ...well, you'll have to read it for yourself.

Performed with enthusiastic engagement, separate and appropriate voicings for each of the lrotagonists, and with perfect pacing and good modulation, Ellery Truesdill was an excellent narrator. The book isn't long, only about four hours, but packed with action - and not quite what is expected.
I received a freely gifted complimentary copy of RedKoin, at my reqjezt, form the rights holder via Audiobook Boom. Thank you so much. I will definitely be looking out for more by author Jeremy Croston in the future.
