About this listen

Gina Miller came to prominence when she brought one of the most significant constitutional cases ever to be heard in the British Supreme Court. Gina successfully challenged the UK government's authority to trigger Article 50 - the formal notification to leave the European Union - without parliamentary approval. For standing up for what she believed was right, Miller became the target of not just racist and sexist verbal abuse but physical threats to her and her family.

One question she kept being asked was: how could she keep going at the cost of so much pain and aggravation? To her the answer was obvious: she'd been doing it all her life.

In Rise, Gina Miller draws on a lifetime of fighting injustice and looks at the moments that made her: the trauma, failures and successes that gave her the confidence in her voice, the ability to know how to use it and the strength not to let others diminish it, even when it came at incredible cost. To those who say one person cannot make a difference, this memoir demonstrates irrefutably how you can.

Phenomenal Woman! A must read/ listen.

This book has been instrumental in finding myself whilst digging deep to realise my potential. Gina is a fantastic and truly fascinating woman, who has transcended difficulty and still risen despite the challenges thrown her way. I marvel at how she comes across as quite childlike in her outlook on life and hope for humanity.

Thank you for all you have done, for fighting the bullies and sacrificing your time and safety for the whole of Britain.

You are a HERO. How anyone can dislike you is beyond my comprehension. I have fallen in love with your strength, determination and composure.

We must all continue to speak our truth and stand our grounds firmly, by doing this the bullies of the world will surely go into remission.

No more silence!

So many pearls of wisdom

Gina Miller is an intriguing person, and what’s enticing about this book is how articulate, down to earth and unapologetic she comes across. No matter which side of the Brexit divide you sit on, there is wisdom for all of us—male, female. person of color, white, rich, or not so much—in her words.

A lady of our time

I recently heard Gina Miller on a podcast and I thought ... wow... I must listen to her story.
Her story is inspirational, she’s one principled lady and I enjoyed finding out more about her. She is a lady of our time. I was appalled to hear about the vitriol poured upon her and in awe of her strength of character.

The narration was not brilliant ... but I still listened and that shows the quality of the story. I’m pretty sure that in a few years Gina will do another autobiography and I’d love to hear more about how she succeed in her early years.

An interesting delve into the woman behind the headlines

Gina gives us all the answers to why someone would put themselves through some of the vitriol we often heard thrown at her. We get a real sense of how her character was built and honed from childhood to now. We get to understand more of where her moral compass lays, the trials she has overcome and why she is not afraid to fight for what she believes to be right. Well worth the read / listen.

Great inspiring story

Gina is very clear as a narrator. With each chapter your admiration for her as a person impresses you as you learn of the struggles she came through both personal and professional. In particular the struggle and perseverance she showed in raising her daughter was especially inspiring to those of us with special needs children.

Inspiring

There is a phrase Gina Miller uses in the book, something like 'soft but tough'. If I have recalled it correctly this phrase loosely summarises her in this book. I'm inspired by the woman who repeatedly stands up for what she believes is right despite adversities. Gina Miller has been doing this for a lifetime. Thank you also Gina for reading your story because there is so much misinformation in the public domain and for sharing your rationale behind the key decisions you discuss relating to your personal and public life. You are truly a champion for ethics and equality.
