Summary
Winner of the 2019 Odyssey Award
Winner of the 2019 Audie Award for Young Adult Audiobook
An innovative audiobook production featuring more than 30 voices, Sadie explores the depth of a sister's love - poised to be the next story listeners won't be able to pause.
A missing girl on a journey of revenge and a Serial-like podcast following the clues she's left behind.
Sadie hasn't had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she's been raising her sister, Mattie, in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.
But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie's entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister's killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him.
When West McCray - a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America - overhears Sadie's story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie's journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it's too late.
Courtney Summers' Sadie is propulsive and harrowing and will keep listeners riveted until the last track.
Critic reviews
"A haunting, gut-wrenching, and relentlessly compelling read. Sadie grabs you and won't let you go until you've borne witness." (Veronica Roth, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Carve the Mark and the Divergent series)
"An electrifying thriller, taut as a bowstring. A coming-of-age tale, both gritty and sensitive. A poignant drama of love and loss. This - all this - is Sadie: a novel for readers of any age, and a character as indelible as a scar. Flat-out dazzling." (A.J. Finn, number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Woman in the Window)
"Courtney Summers's powerful story of love, neglect, abuse, and revenge is narrated with irresistible urgency by Rebecca Soler and Dan Bittner, along with an ensemble of supporting narrators...this is a production that will not be forgotten." (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award Winner)

Just brilliant
I thought at the beginning I’d struggle with the multi person narration but once I got into it it was just brilliant. The story gripping and performances very powerful. A highly recommended listen.

Loved it!
I loved the story and was hooked from beginning to end... I loved the different voices, it was like watching a tv show. But that ending, it hurts.

Enjoyable
The plot was great, I loved the format and dual narrative but I felt a bit letdown by two of the narrators. They showed no emotion and barely any acting skills where the rest of the cast blew them out of the water so it was disappointing

Great audiobook, story itself a bit lacking.
I found the audiobook incredibly done, the cast was fantastic, yet the story somehow fell flat for me.

A powerful story with a tear evoking ending
Not only is this audiobook extremely well produced, with fantastic narration and ambience throughout - it also tells a powerful story which could easily be true of millions of missing girls and women around the world. The author is not remiss in making clear this very important message, conveying the message in a delicate way which is thought-provoking but not in the least preaching. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook, and would recommend it to anyone. Despite dealing with some very delicate issues, this proves to be an easy listen, which is testament to the well written story and the fantastic production of the audiobook.

Dark and gripping podcast style audio book
I loved the format of this story, the duel POVs with Sadie and the man making the podcast about everything that happens. It felt like a race to discover the truth. Sadie was so well written and performed, and the story had me from the first chapter, I needed to know what happened to "The Girls". Highly recommend if you're addicted to true crime podcasts!
