I think this is one of the best series out there. Yes, I got a free audible code, but I already pre-ordered the kindle book version as I wanted to have both formats. Each book is its own story, with a main underlying story line joining the books and hinting at so much more to come. And wow - what an ending, darn it was one of those endings where you desperately want the next book - now to find out what happened!
Sometimes series lose their way, this isn’t one of them. It helps the narrator is excellent (there were a few occasions when he used voices for the wrong character, but it didn’t detract from the story telling), they have a good range of voices and have one of those voices that has no annoying elements.
Spoilers:
Pax and his crew survived the purge and now returned to the capital, but now they must help the rebellion without being caught, in fact they must be the loyalists greatest advocates. Returning the academy, things have changed! With war games in place to learn how to fight others rather than monsters, becoming messengers, all the while secretly supporting the rebellion! Then at the right moment they escape and head out back to the light headquarters. But the sorry isn’t all about Pax, but Titus too, will they eventually manage to find each other?
Just when you think a series couldn’t get any better, the next book comes out and proves it can.
