Summary

What would you give for a wish to come true? Your left arm? Your most cherished possession? Your last crumb of integrity?

Kyle Hammond is suffering a surprise birthday party he really didn’t want. As he blows out the candles on his cake, he makes a token wish. Three days later, to his utter astonishment, that wish comes true.

All his problems solved, Kyle is busy counting his blessings when a gaunt pensioner turns up at his door unannounced. The stranger then confounds Kyle by claiming credit for his recent good fortune, followed by a bizarre declaration: When Edmund Wishkin grants a wish, there’s always a price to pay.

Whether he believes the old man or not, Kyle is about to discover the true cost of a wish fulfilled.

one of my favourite authors

I've pretty much come to love all of Keith A Pearson's books. And this book contains all of those magic ingredients that a I love. A story line that keeps me hooked and invested. Characters that are relatable and real and that you can't help rooting for. And just enough sprinking of humour and wit to get you over the frustrating nail biting peaks that hook you deeper and deeper into the lives of these fictional characters. Well..this book has the added bonus of wisdom with valuable life lessons added as an extra treat.

Excellent story telling…I became very invested.

I love this author, I start every book thinking hmmm maybe I will understand the protagonist by the end of every book I’m extremely invested in all of the characters. Excellent writing I can not fault the story telling. I thoroughly enjoyed reading and listening to this story.

Really enjoyable and engaging story

I didn’t like this book, I loved it. Right from the outset, I was great and I’ve finished it within 24 hours. I loved all the characters and the story, and despite the relative simplicity, it was thoroughly engaging. I thought the narrator was excellent and rest with a passion and brought real meaning to the story. I really hope that there are more books available with this combination of author and narrator. Highly highly recommended for everyone from teenagers and upwards.

Amazing. Love this book.

Keith Pearson does it again, this book is fantastic just like the other ones. I love that there's a hidden deeper meaning weaved into the story - absolutely fantastic. Good narration too.

Well read

The narration was really good and easy to visualise the people in the story. The story was a real suspension of belief and run of bad luck. But the pain, albeit substantial leads to a a good ending.

Another fantastic book by Keith a. Pearson. I don’t want to give too much away I think the review, but the book certainly gets you to reflect on how you would respond if you were granted a wish.
