Summary

A Warhammer Quest audio drama.

Of all the horrors that lurk inside the Blackstone Fortress, perhaps the most feared is the dreaded ambull. Rogue Trader Janus Draik embarks on a hunt for this monstrous beast - but he is not the only one seeking it....

Listen to it because:

If you want to know what an ambull sounds like, this is the story for you - the perfect background to your own adventures in the Blackstone Fortress....

The story:

Of the countless monstrosities inhabiting the Blackstone Fortress, none wreak such destruction as the dreaded ambull. Capable of rending a human in two with a swipe of its claws, hunting this apex predator is a suicidal task. Naturally, this leaves only one man for the job: Rogue Trader Janus Draik, gentlemen, scholar, scoundrel and duellist par excellence. Accompanied by the kroot tracker Dahyak Grekh, Draik must venture into the labyrinth for his most dangerous mission yet. But, in the depths, he is not the only one seeking the ambull, and while Draik aims to kill it, some foolishly pursue the beast inside for their own ends.

Written by Darius Hinks. Performed by Tom Alexander, Sean Connolly, Paul Panting and Fiona Skinner.

Eh...what? That was it...???

There's something about Space Hulks and Blackstone Fortresses. They're ideal places for Black Library to start exploring dark, more adult-themed and violent fiction-like Alien on steroids. So, with this possibility at hand, the writer takes the subject matter and...makes a pretty uninteresting story.

Don't get me wrong, it's well-written and well acted, though the broad accents they insist in giving the characters lately is starting to get a bit annoying. Diversity and racial inclusion and representation is, thank The Emperor, absolute drivel that won't be around by 40K so I wish they'd stop putting it in their dramas. People will be people, accepted as people, and I'll be glad when GW jumps back off the bandwagon. They're ruining an amazing future by making it "now".

So good story, good acting then...that's it. Done. I actually thought it was the end of a chapter and the story would go on but no. Just as it got started properly and became quite exciting it ended. I'm assuming there'll be a continuation that'll cost another credit.

Was it Blackstone Fortress, through? When I think about it it could've been staged anywhere...

Not sure what else to say. Buy it if you're a completist. If not, buy something longer...

TO SHORT!!!

a book of approximately one hour is way to short for a full priced book.
