Summary

After the loss of a child along with a slew of agonizing misfortunes, Nick and Jess decide to end their lives. Unable to cope with the misery that fills their days, they commit one last act together and die in loving relief.

But when Nick wakes up, he soon realizes that death isn't the gentle darkness he expected. Panicked and horrified, he struggles to understand the twisted abominations and hellish world he's now trapped in.

Driven by desperation and a sudden will to survive, he sets out to find Jess and is unable to cope with the thought of her having to suffer through the terrors this new reality holds.

But nothing could prepare him for the nightmares he found...nothing could prepare him for the Black Farm.

The detail and the shock factor

This audio has me hooked! I was unsure whether it would be my thing but I'm so glad I tried it. It gives so much detail, you can create the scenes in your head. I even gasped a couple of times out of shock.

Feed the Pig

Amazing listen, from start to finish. Wasn't able to listen alone due to husband hearing part and wanting to listen too. Really good story, great narrator. Found a second book too, off I go to listen!

Gore filled bliss.

An incredible story!
Brilliant characters and atmosphere set in a terrifyingly evil terrain.
There are only a few audiobooks that I'll listen to repeatedly and this is one of them.

Grim but a good listen

I bought this not knowing it was an extreme horror, but enjoyed it all the same. Great take on a gross purgatory. He brings the world to life really well and really sets the scene for the horrors that populate the black farm. That being said, there were a couple of bits that I thought could've been explained and thought out a little more. Other than that, a great listen. Very much recommend.

Amazing

This was my first time stepping out of slashers and serial killer stories and was an amazing experience. Felt worried and scared for the characters through out the story. I really recommend this book. I haven’t done a review on audible before so this is my first one and I am telling you to read this or listen to it. Kept my long days cheffing interesting.

Thank you

Thought provoking

This is a great book.
For anyone with an interest in the complexities of religion some of the hidden depths in this book are fascinating! The fact that the Black farm is ruled by a Pig- thought to be the most unholy of creatures, and I particularly enjoyed Nicks interaction with the eyes of the world.
Nicks journey is brilliant, tense, brutal, descriptive! The reader was perfect, I loved Mucks voice and Danny reminded me of the suited character from Dogma.
Jess was a bit of a wet blanket but there’s one in every story I suppose!
I look forward to The Black Farm Returns!!

So dark

I hate horror. I decided to give this a shot and it really surprised me. It’s definitely not a genre I will keep as a go to, but the story was well written, the author did a great job building this other world, and the characters were easy to get to know. The narration was done well and it kept me listening.

Emgaging worldbuilding

I've listened to a few horror audio books but none have ever effected me like this one. The author does a great of job describing the raw intensity of the scenes. Descriptions of violence can be so unrelenting and shocking, I had to take a break a few times.

My favourite part of this book was how engaging the worldbuilding was. The Black Farm and its inhabitants have so much mystery to them. I loved hearing characters talking about it's different aspects.

If you're interested in the premise, definitely give it a go. You won't be disappointed.
